Steve Wraith has just tweeted that the East Stand will show the following by the start of the Blackburn game:

"Puma Logo" "Sports Direct" "Newcastle United" "Sports Direct" "Puma Logo"

Oh no! Just what I feared!!

Blimey, really is trying to get as much advertising as he can out of the club.

Before we know it the pitch will be painted the Sports direct logo.

If Newcastle United is still prominent on there am really not bothered. The bloke owns the club, get used to it. If it encourages another company to sponsor the ground and St James is still in the title and they are putting lots of cash into the club, happy enough with that too. Its a business run sport nowadays and we need to get our heads out of the past and maximise our possible income to compete at the top. No point whining that we need big signings and also moaning about little things that bring in the cash to do it.

This would be a good thing and everyone would get behind the whole 'raising club revenue streams' view IF we actually believed that the money gained from this would be properly re-invested into the team. Recent history shows though that a big influx of money doesnt mean more money available for signings...

In a perfect/normal world, the more money NUFC made, the more we'd be able to spend on squad improvements, but that isnt happening.

I personally think this is an advertisement too far. Every ****er knows what he represents, but he knows that when teams come out, the camera will point these advertisements out. I think it will look disgusting, and its another step to smashing up SJP from my point of view.

Problem here is that SD are not paying the club anything for the advertisement! It's free.

I'm sure I read the other week that John Hall stated that Ashley was buying the club to use as an advertising vehicle for his retail companies, mainly SD.

I would agree with that if it was true. The advertising is for Mike Ashley's own benefit, not the club's.

Couldn't he just put up advertising flags above the 'Newcastle United' sign... like we used to have for Adidas.

I think it's disgusting what he's doing, that sign has even been shown in a movie for god sake!
