Quote from an interview on BBC:

"Sometimes, when I played for my country, the boss at my club has said: 'Paul, this might be one worth missing. We've got a massive game on Saturday and the Champions League game on the Tuesday."

Which boss is he referring to and why does your drunken twat of a whisky nosed **** try and stop his players from playing for their countries??

He was referring to Roy Evans. Glad I could clear that one up for you.

It'd be nice to hear back from the last poster as to when (both roy evans and ince were at the club) we were in the champions league back then?

Well it certainly wasn't SAF. We only ever played one CL game on a Tuesday whilst Ince was at the club, and there was no England game the week before that <ok>

Sounds like the big time Charlie is big time gobbing off again...

CL football wasn't played on Tuesdays during Ince's time at United so that would certainly suggest that he wasn't alluding to Ferguson. UEFA Cup games were played on Tuesdays though. Liverpool played in that tournament, didn't they?

I think we can all agree a couple of things.

    1. thick people say thick things.... for instance really do you think the guy can be reliably quoting as to the tuesday as the actual day the games were on... or in fact could he just be relating the tale in todays terms as his fuzzy memory is... well... fuzzy <laugh> Indeed even though he would be that thick i think confusing the eufa and champions league is a stretch even for someone out to defend alex ferguson no matter what.

boil this issue down either into a lsam ferguson banter article or boil it down into do you care this much about internations article... either way you want it.

    2. We all know ferguson has form for trying to ge tplayers out of internationals. Giggs is the very very obvious example and rooney didn't best please him a few times.... but i think even the most ardent pro or anti ferguson person should also realise that yes there are times that games are pointless. Playing apul ince in a friendly, or indeed giggs when they've big games coming are indeed pointless.

Finally on this point i'd rather that benitez had pulled torres and gerrard out of international duty when the friendlies were on.

Agreed. He's such a mouthpiece, which is one of the reasons Fergie got rid of him. It was also pretty poor form when he tried to play the race card following his departure from the Blackburn hotseat (quite topical to mention the race issue right now) when any manager, regardless of colour or creed, should have been expecting their P45 with the record he had there.

Could the lack of a decent memory be the reason and only reason Ince is out of work

ince left mk dons on the up for blackburn and didn't do well, it was his own fault as he over stretched.. he then foolishly got into the notts county debacle and then made it worse by retruning to mk dons... all in all a lot of bad decisions for his own career there... thats why he's not got a job.

He had a good one on the up where he'd get backing and time to gain expereince and grow but took the fast track...

Are you sure? Wasn't he worth it for the goal the cost us the title alone?

    Oh, wait a minute..... <laugh>

"Whether these players, aged 18 or 19, now dream about playing at Wembley, I don't know. Or would they rather play against Barcelona in the Champions League final?"

This was the worst part of the Ince article for me, i mean surely any player would rather play in the Final of the champions league than just make one appearance at Wembley for England. I mean if he'd of said the world cup final over the champions league final then fair enough but to just to play at wembley or in the final of of the biggest club competition in the world i know which one i'd choose.

Even if he was referring to SAF, so what? SAF could drink five bottles of JD and he'd still have no doubt which one is more important, a Premiership/UCL match with United or some b*****it money-making training match with the clown outfit that is Ingerlund.

Ince was a fine player in his prime but unfortunately he has always been a big-mouthed tw*t of a man. With Blackburn he was the worst manager in Premiership history, still he talks as if he was blameless, nuff said

All you need to know OP is that Man Utd, Fergie and all are greater than England.

You also need to know that what Paul Ince says.....you ignore. If he says the sky is blue, the sea is wet and the air contains oxygen...be damn ****ing sure hes lying.
