The 49ers are small time gamblers looking to make a decent profit on a small amount of outlay. Probably shifted some dollars from usa to legally avoid tax on it costing them nowt. If they had big intentions wheres the big money.
If we add James to the Casillas signing then it will be a good window, sell Clarke and that will be undone. I'd like to see James here but not at the expense of Clarke.
The 49ers have a deal that expands every season Leeds don't get promoted. They own 11.7% of the club right now and that increases by an agreed % point each year. So that gamble pays off yearly, however promotion this season would see them have a huge uplift in the value of their existing shares. This deal is about making them money yes but it's also a shrewd move into football
I've always been led to think the same, Milky, and oddly enough, was thinking about this whilst watching the u23s yesterday. I'm not convinced. We spent a lot of time in their half passing the ball & running around making space, often to no avail. Them? They often took 2 paces towards our players & we passed the ball out of their reach. They were so tightly packed that they didn't have far to move to engage us, therefore very little physicality involved. This was not representative of the whole match, of course, but it does make you wonder. And yet .... it seems to work! We do tire out teams (but not yesterday, oddly enough). Most games the opposition are out on their feet in the last 10 minutes. I wondered if it's actually a mental fatigue gain we have - the fact that the opposition can't get the ball to do their funky thing must really get to them. Or something like that. Like you, I'd love to see some analysis on this. Betcha I know someone who already has researched it. Thoroughly. Goes by the name of Bielsa .....
I agree but at the end of this season that is two years in, if promoted one year in PL then sell us. He probably thought promotion next year rather than this one. Bielsa I also expect to be one year in the PL with us. I’m okay with it all and I’m hoping we get promoted with Rads and Bielsa before he decides to sell and we become the next Man City. I’m personally not comfortable with surviving in the PL and making up the numbers.
Me neither and given size of fanbase etc etc no reason why we should be making up numbers, certainly after two or three seasons, but if we sell the likes of Clarke after a handful of games, thats all well be doing
It is paid for now Eire, but look back over Arsenals last 10-12 years accounts, you will see they generated about £300 million which paid for the ground.
Too simplistic an argument mate. Doesn't matter how big your fan base is when looking at staying in the Premier League. It takes time to consolidate unless you have a wealthy owner. Newcastle have a wealthy owner but refuses to splash out. He makes loads of money from the club and it could well be relegated yet again. Watford have built up over a few seasons investing more every year in better players. Bournemouth with no crowd doing the same by slowly building up the quality. Leicester had wealthy owners and good scouts and slowly built up to a point when they spawned the title but player quality improves year on year. They have a similar size crowd as us and a wealthy owner but can't compete its Man City Leeds only way to consolidate in the Prem will by using orta's contacts abroad and bringing in top quality at affordable prices. Bielsa will attract but we still won't be paying £100k per week wages yet. Season ticket prices will rise along with everything at ER too
Need some opinions here in the event of worst case scenario. If Spuds buy Clarke is this in the best interest of the club and player, or is this a way to finance a deal for James which must be a Bielsa decision? Was selling Woods and Taylor the same and Viera too for Bamford. Wood is doing ok in the Prem for a bottom Prem club, but hardly prolific, Taylor is forgotten and Viera hardly used. So it would seem those decisions seem to be good ones, but Clarke?
Clarke has that close control that Eddie had. The one where the ball seems to follow his foot and at the same time he is aware of players around him. You cannot coach that its in him and keep him best ive seen since Delph. Dare i say it even better than lennon.
Reminds me of that joke that goes: What's the difference between a blow job and a bonus? Answer - your wife is guaranteed to blow your bonus
If Clarke does go (heaven forbid) then it confirms my own personal thoughts of Radrizani. Just supposing Clark does go to Spurs and we loan him back till end of season and if we get promoted what do we do for skill full players then.?
