So forum, anyone willing to explain why On The Blind Side is 7/4 against Talkischeap and White Moon (to name just two) tomorrow? He was a disaster on chase debut so I’d like to understand how he is that price and whether anyone is going to be with him? I’m very close to backing Talkischeap, who is a shade behind the best novices in the UK but has shown plenty this season to suggest he should be good enough to win this.
At the risk of being called your Siamese twin again...... On The Blind Side was a good deal superior to Talkischeap and White Moon over hurdles. He also is trained by Nicky Henderson who is accorded godlike status at Kempton Park. The negative is his performance on his chase debut which although was in good company it was garbage. I think the market will give some hefty clues as to whether or not the yard discovered a problem that they could resolve. I liked White Moon's performance at Exeter and was hugely dissapointed with his run the last day. He drifted that day. Its a quality race for its class and at the prices I would be a layer rather than a player on the Henderson animal.
I was going to back talkischeap until I saw the price. Not worth it for me with the amount I put on, so I've left that race well alone
I have had a bet on Miss Yeats. I think the trip and going were wrong last time and with near ideal conditions tomorrow she can get back on the right track.
Looks a very fair call in that race, not a race that I will be getting involved in. Trappy cards tomorrow but the novice races might throw a useful type or two up.
Yep, really looking forward to seeing Joyrider tomorrow, Huge absence to overcome but if straight he would give Pym a race.
I wrote about Pym at the weekend. Think this is little more than a spin around for him ahead of Cheltenham call it his prep, his warm-up, his hors d'oeuvres, or something similar. The Lieutenant eschews both continuing in Graded races or introducing him into handicaps for this very insignificant and comparatively lowly prize. Re Pym today I think the aim would be to give him a nice blow out ahead of the Festival and most importantly of all not to see, in the process, his perch rise above the current mark of 138 (potentially I think he could be a handicap blot off this figure). Really think these are the aims and a win, lose or draw scenario far below them today.
hi lads! hope, you had a nice and prosperous weekend.i surely had. kempton,1 00: extra mag and special cargo are very much respected here, but the former didnt jump too well last time out,and has a penalty to carry, and the latter might need the outing,so why not take a chance on the ability of NOT SO SLEEPY today? he was very useful on the level, with a rating in the mid 9ies,and his shrewd trainer has had success before with similar types over hurdles.so,at around 5-1 currently,he is surely worth a small wager today..
After the horses bolted but I’m always weary about hard pulling sorts moving from the flat to hurdles. They seldom get home when they debut and need to grow up a bit before being ready for winning over hurdles. I’d love to know the stats on first time hurdles runs for horses aged 7 or above when transferring from the flat.
interesting point.to be honest, that didnt cross my mind so far,but youre possibly right. kempton,1 30: i think,in terms of class,TALKISCHEAP might have achieved the most so far, despite it being a two horse race last time out,but his only rival then, theatre territory,is a useful horse, and he shaped,as if this even longer trip might bring him on again..so,he gets a narrow vote..
What I said about Pym earlier also really applied re Talkischeap. Think they are going for the Ultima on Day1 with that one so no way would connections have wanted him romping home and getting a big increase on 145. Think he will just about retain that mark going forward (or get a pound or two increase). Think it was job done re Pym. They won a race and can’t see him getting hit with an increase beyond the odd pound or 2 – although I would expect him to remain on 138. But big day tomorrow, team, as Scarlet Dragon gets perched (over hurdles). What do we reckon he will be given?!? Will Mr Ponsonby be having a celebratory GnT or a consoling GnT???
4/4 now. Is there anyone wonder the great man is so adored by the forumites?!? There will be unprecedented scenes on here if he adds the 3.25 to his win tally today. Oh Lieutenant Henderson I salute you!
