Think he could be a clever signing - experienced, versatile and not much of a risk.

 

Yeah he’s been close a few times, but think now Sanchez is back fit, he’s quite abit away from the first team. Come on Adkins get on the phone

 

Ridgewell might work, and three days before the end of the transfer window, what'cha gonna do? but it smacks of desperation. He's played no more than a handful of games at a decent level in the last 5 years, he's in his mid-thirties and he's just been released by his current team who's standard is way below ours.

If he’s coming in as an experienced pro who can help the younger defenders and he can stay fit and make a contribution on the pitch. Then on the face of it it’s ok. We still need at least one more defender though.

 

An old head who can share his experience and help the two young 'uns develop in the way Elphick did, and get a game or two along the way as we are desperately short of numbers when injuries kick in. Come the Summer hopefully we can get Elphick signed up on a permanent contract

Noticed both Charlie Austin and Scott Hogan are available for loan.

I’d take Hogan. Doubt Villa would loan him to a club in the same division on similar points.

 

When the captain of your club comes out and says we desperately need 3 more players (no matter how strong the camaraderie) then something is very very amiss, reflected in the pre game attitude and performance on Saturday.

 

Got to agree, without seeing him play surely he is just for back up. Hopefully he will prove us wrong but I think it's asking a lot when he has been out the football league for so long. We definitely need another central defender.

 

Might seem a desperate signing, somebody who semi retired 5 years ago , but unfortunately we are desperate

 

I didn't see the match on Saturday, but what was the 'pre game attitude' and what did you use to interpret it?

 

I'm sat waiting for the announcement from the club on Friday morning which will state something like.

"Over the last weeks we have tried everything possible to secure extra personnel for Nigel and his amazing staff to carry on the wonderful work done getting us into a position to challenge for a play off place. LD and myself have been in literally scores of meetings with agents and club officials trying to act upon our managers needs in supporting his squad, but unfortunately, in most instances, the demands of the agents are outside of the structure of the clubs salaries. We have managed to secure one free agent and one loanee which will bring untold experience to help with this push and invaluable expertise to the younger squad members. At the 11th hour we were made a significant offer for XXXX which met out valuation of the player and having spoken to said player he was keen to pursue his career away form HCAFC. We feel certain you will all get behind the team and staff moving forward."

Right. Didn't hear the pre or post match interviews either, so wasn't aware of that.
