Remember his debut away at Palermo. I was in hospital off my tits of drugs and thought there were messing With my head.
Agree. He was a good shot stopper but you cannot have your keeper continually kicking the ball back to the opposition at every opportunity. His distribution seemed to get worse if anything. Bought so much pressure onto us.
Decent bloke in my book. Always tried his best and clearly has great affection for the club and the region.
Laughing with Defoe, at HT, after he scored a pearly past us. Sorry, don't buy this adopted geordie stick.
It's not war, it's a game... I have more problem with Roy Keane types snarling at the opposition manager like the jumped up little pussy he is, than players having a laugh. It's infinitely more conducive to a more positive performance than the aggressive fear of failure.
I'm not ryt arsed mate I get the point he's a footballer. I just know if someone like Joselu had been doing it we wouldn't shut up about it. Seems hypocritical to ingnore stuff like this because we want to see a player a certain way. He was here for money just like the rest. To be fair I like Keanes in your face bullshit. Counterproductive in plenty of instances but gold-dust in the right team.
Tim Krul left Holland when he was 17 years old to move to England to pursue his footballing dream. He wasn't some journeyman looking for a payday, he was a kid looking to build his career in a foreign country. Granted, he wasn't the best but he worked hard and gave some memorable moments. Spurs away for example.
In answer to the OP question: no. The club saw him as the future and made him first choice. He didn't develop. Seems a nice bloke. Palermo and that game against Spurs will stick in my memory. I'll buy him a pint any time but I don't want him between the sticks for us.
