Australians knocked out in the early hours of “Australia Day”. Brilliant! Of course it will get a minuscule mention at the very end of the sports news tonight. If they’d won it though everyone would be mad “soccer” fans. I love living in it but the people are as fickle as they come.

Where are you living these days? Think I remember you asking about Aus on a forum a few years back and believe you were heading for Victoria or WA.

Sorry it meant to say “match in the 91st minute”. I was doing three things at once <laugh>

That wasn’t me Mrs blue. I’m living on the Gold Coast and been here since I arrived in aus 5 years ago. I love to complain about the Aussies and I suppose I play into the stereotype of “whinging Pom”. We seriously contemplated packing it all in and moving back a few months ago. Main reason being I just couldn’t ever see myself fitting in with the Aussies. I can never give a definitive reason why. They’re so much like us apart from they’re just a bit “off”. Sounds ridiculous I know. Just something iv never been able to put my finger on.
Anyway. Long story short, it ended up being too much to give up. The Gold Coast is unrivalled in its beauty in my opinion. We have great friends and our lifestyle is much better. I’ll just have to deal with grown men riding skate boards, people walking around supermarkets barefooted and a general lack of intelligence. Oh and also the terrible TV.

Sounds like the average intelligence of both the U.K. and Oz went up with your emigration :emoticon-0105-wink::emoticon-0105-wink:

As if Qatar have got to the final <laugh>

Maybe they are good enough to host a World Cup! Forget about those pesky human rights records!

They're currently 3-1 up in the final vs. Japan.

    Seriously though, what the ****?

I’m sure I read somewhere they scavenged South American teenagers so that they can naturalise them in time for the World Cup. Though it seems they have only have a naturalised Portuguese lad in there.

Their manger was in charge of Barcelona’s youth team, so he has a decent pedigree.

You'd still think teams like Japan and South Korea should have no problems with them.

They did do that about ten years ago, but they use mostly home grown players now.

Oh yeah, fair play to them. As Al said, they're mostly homegrown players, to beat a team far better than you in a major tournament is a huge accomplishment for them.
