Probably the only way to illicit a good response from him. Apologise to him and pander to his narcissism, he'd love it. Not gonna happen though, and probably rightly because he'd probably still give the club **** all, and wouldn't allow outside investment.

When we were relegated, didn't we have a massive amount of income from selling players? Was it £70-80 million?

We did but I think if you then shell out 55m or whatever we did getting out the championship, once you count the cost of relegation on all your other income, you are unfortunately well in the red. Its irrelevant though if that relegation is your fault due to lack of investment.

None of this hides the fact that he is taking £7m in unpaid advertising space out of the club annually and no one seems to challenge him on it... his token £3m value which he attaches is an insult.

Also the problem is that was raised by selling players who were worth that amount. (I know, I know Sissoko) If we go down this season do we have players now who would raise that amount given the failure to invest in players since we were promoted? If we don't then the last loss will look like chicken feed and we will struggle to get back first time.

    Link goes to TransferMarket

    https://www.transfermarkt.com/newcastle-united/alletransfers/verein/762

We sold £100M to then spend £63M and still will have had a big financial loss for that year.

I just don't feel we are in as good a position as we were then as we haven't invested in players since gaining promotion. We can sell players but will the ones left be good enough to get back up at the first attempt. I'm not convinced they will be.

Ok, so he did talk face to face with Ashley. Noted.

Ashleys 'reputation' may have been 'well known' but was this so called reputation supposed to red flag for SJH that Ashley would follow the path that he has. The fact of the matter is that nobody could have predicted how this would all pan out, not even Ashley himself really. So to say that it is SJH fault IS bollocks.

At least you concede that Ashley should at least shoulder some of the responsibility for HIS actions, rather than blaming the fans and the guy that owned the club over a decade ago.............. so kudos for that :emoticon-0137-clapp

No I still blame the morons who poked the bear. It’s unquestionably stupid of them. Unfortunately he is vindictive enough to make it hurt. As for SJH there is doubt he did not act in the best interests of the club for me. It’s would be incredibly naive to think otherwise. He acted for him and his family. Yer man thinks we are lucky to have Mr Ashley :emoticon-0140-rofl: If SJH gives a **** about the club, he doesn’t desperate sell to some **** who can’t even be arsed to do due diligence. He just tossed the club on to the first guy who was willing to pay. Cheers, Sir John, you’re a true fan like you claim.

I never said SJH acted in the best interests of the club ..................... he clearly acted in his best interests, that's what hard nosed businessmen do ..................... that still does not make him to blame for Ashleys behaviour over the last decade and to suggest that he is, is nonsense. SJH was not obliged to carry out 'due diligence' on Ashley. SJH was not perfect but he did far more good for NUFC than he did bad ..................... and if he made a few quid along the way, then ****ing good for him.

Now we are also blaming the fans for 'poking the bear' .................... well im not having that either ....................... are you suggesting that Ashleys incredibly damaging actions and decisions over the last decade have been because some fans called his daughter names, right after he ****ed over a club legend?

Ashley is a grown man, with thick skin you say, and according to some on this board, an extremely intelligent man also. Yet he has made a series of decisions that have damaged the very foundations of one of the biggest clubs in European football, costing him millions and millions of pounds in the process because he is so incandescent with rage after his daughter was called names and if she had not been a target he would have made completely different decisions? And ten years later the embers still glow for him.

Nope ................. Ashley is a despicable human being (ask some of his employees at Shirebrook) and SJH, the fans or being 'poked' have nothing to do with his behaviour. He is a clueless ****er when it comes to football and football clubs but his arrogance, stupidity, stubbornness, greed and constant need to be 'the big dog' keeps him on the destructive path that he is following.

Others may disagree with the above.

Called her some names? Typical Newcastle fan trying to rewrite history - just be honest and use the appropriate phrase - they threatened her. That’s how low they stooped- those that did are as bad as him. They have no morals. How much would you fancy some payback if someone threatened your child? I’d hazard a guess that a fair few would take the opportunity to stick it to the people who did it if they had the means and opportunity.

So yeah I’m afraid you’ll have to suck it up, it very likely did have something to do with his behaviour. It would still have been ****, but they made it worse.

Ashley is an almighty **** who carries the majority of the blame. No one thinks otherwise. Let’s not pretend the fans haven’t played their part in worsening it though with their faux funeral march, abusing his daughter, stupid banners and all their other ****e. Some of our fan base are fantastic, some of it an embarrassment to the club and the area.

As for SJH, if you can’t see that as a custodian of the club he had an unwritten obligation to act in the clubs best interests, then I can’t help you. When you own something that a lot of people hold dear, when you come to sell it you owe it to the people who have invested in it to make sure you leave it good hands SJH knowingly left in the hands of the guy who has sucked yours and everyone’s enjoyment out of it. To suggest he is blameless us nuts. He’s played an enormous role in the demise of our great club.

SJH may fool some with his “I’m a Geordie and a lifelong fan, I want 11 Geordie on the team, that’s the dream” **** off you old Mackem ****, we know you were a childhood sunderland fan and it didn’t half show when it came to the crunch. He sent us into 10 yrs of sleepwalking because he didn’t care enough. He bears huge responsibility.

Im all for debate .............. but lets not get condescending, eh pal ........................ i dont need you to 'help' me ................ i just dont agree with you, ok.

You have gone from SJH and the fans are completely to blame and Ashley is blameless to SJH and the fans are partly to blame and Ashley is a ****, in the space of one thread.

Also these things that i have to 'suck up' ...................... do you have to do that also are are you different somehow from us mere mortals?

When you come down off your high horse ill re-engage.
