Are they getting a bit short then?
I'm totally against it, as I am with anything that is purely money-driven with no regard to the effect it has.

The big Premier League clubs look at Real and Barca with an envious eye, they negotiate their own TV rights in Spain and abroad, money is like an addictive drug to football clubs, they get a taste and want more and don't give a **** who gets hurt when they get it.
Our own national game has suffered bigtime since the total overpowering influx of foreign players, English/British players struggle to make it at the bigger clubs(including LFC)because buying foreign saves them nurturing them through the ranks and the fact that English players are expensive compared to cheaper foreign imports these days.

Not sure why you automatically assume it would be 20 teams.

Allegedly 11 teams [the founder members who would become the shareholders] have had secret meetings to bring about a super league ... Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, AC Milan, and PSG. 5 guest teams would make up the 16 teams they feel will make it more competitive - Atlético Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Marseille, Inter Milan and AS Roma. Arsenal have already refuted their involvement .... so who knows.

Chelsea might have just squeezed in but no way are Man City a founder member.

To us older supporters (cough cough)the game has changed dramatically since we started going, the aims are the same, the amount of players on the pitch is the same, shorts got shorter and longer, haircuts have varied etc.
But it's a ****ing lot more than 1 shilling to get in these days.<grr>

There will be a 'super league' , but it will be in the form of a remodelled European tournament. UEFA have already said they are looking to restructure the tournament's and introduce a 3rd ****ter tier. This will be when they make an elite tier.

The premier league won't be affected.

Yeah, I read that, but that's assuming the big clubs accept what's on the table and accept to Uefa dictating terms.
The tail is now powerful enough to wag the dog in Europe these days.

I agree, but they will also see the financial benefits of being in both.

Wasn't questioning you, I know they're listed. But I'm still not having it. They've had this committee for 15yrs+, Man City were in the lower leagues back then.

So, is it all a cosy little billionaires club with no relegation or promotion into it?
I foresee so many difficulties with the running of this - which is presumably why it hasn't taken off even though they've been kicking it around for yonks.

As the whole thing is just a license to print some more money I'm assuming pulling-power is the main criterion for selection.
