Off to Cheltenham tomorrow for my annual birthday celebration but fancy one in the bumper at Huntingdon. In what looks a poor race I’m going for the Galileo gelding The Cruikshank for dean ivory?
In 14 attempts the yard is yet to have a single runner placed under NH rules, including four in bumpers!
Morning 7.15 Newcastle-Cherry Oak Each Way @ 11-2 [Bet 365] Be good to see Paul Mulrennan ride a winner
I’ll be there on Saturday too - am hoping to see River Nelson come with a late rattle up the hill to upset the favs in the first and to watch the changing of the guard as Paisley Park ushers in a new era in long distance hurdling .... and why won’t mr. Henderson (forums favorite trainer) see some glory with Janika (if mr Jacob rides him just a bit closer to the pace ) .... but then what do I know . Here’s to a great day and happy birthday mate
As I said, there’s not much to go on. Breeding wise he’s a blue blood. The fact he was only sold for five grand probably says he didn’t look much at the sales. Other than the one previous winner and maybe the twisters horse I just thought a mile and a half on good ground on a flat track and the jockey booking. There’s money for it, them bookies must be reading my posts again they’re making a retreat again. Probably finish last.
Happy Birthday. That The Cruix has to be one of the best bred horses ever to go bumping. By super sire, Galileo, and out of a mare who was Grade 3 placed, on the level, in the old US. She has already produced The Corsican (Group 3 and Listed winner) and most eyecatching of all Deauville a Grade 1 winner, at Belmont, and a dual Group 3 winner, for Mr O’Brien The Cruix was bought out of Dave Simcock’s yard by current connections for a very cheap looking 5,000 guineas last July.
Happy birthday Florida. Enjoy Cheltenham. Was all set to be going myself but can not make it now but I 'll catch some of the racing..
Have a great day FP (The horse I am most lookng forward to at the entire meeting is Jarvey's Plate, I thought he took a massive step forward on New Years Day and I think he will take all the beating)
No doubt Sir Barney is suffering conflicting emotions around the 1.00 at Huntingdon today as Lieutenant Henderson's Daphne Du Clos takes on Mr. Ponsonby's Scarlet Dragon. The former has not been seen wince winning the same Newbury Bumper won by the likes of Barters Hill (from Buveur D'Air and Altior), Al Ferof, Definitly Red and Ballyandy, whilst the latter finished 2nd in the Adonis on hurdles debut before struggling at Aintree on ground far too soft. With the ground officially good today I don't expect there to be much between these two. But for which horse will Sir Barney be cheering?
