"Anything could happen". Cedric hasn't played constantly under Ralph and hasn't play that good for a while. I would rather trust a manager that seems to know what he is on about and has got the team playing decent than people that are worried about not having a 3rd rb
There's is no way Stephens is good enough to play RWB. Valery or Ramsay (potentially JWP too) are absolutely fine for me. An improvement even.
Which is why playing JWP as a RWB would work, albeit temporarily. He can defend but is great going forward, especially if he links up with a quick attacker.
There are so many opinions that it can sound contradictory, but you hear complaints that the squad is bloated and then we remove a few players and you hear “what if we get injuries?” Perhaps it’s time to watch one of those hoarding shows.
It potentially could work, yes. But the lad finally seems to have found a role in the team that suits him. It would be a shame to take him away from there, to try him yet somewhere else, all because we didn't make one signing.
Sure, pick out the “anything could happen” part from my post. Not the half a season to play, or two youth players, one who’s played a handful of games the other barely at all and some make shifts that can play there if we have to in a system that requires a lot from its wingbacks. I’m not having a breakdown about this, and yes I think we’ll be ok. But I don’t know how anyone can think it’s not a risk if we don’t replace. I also like the fact that apparently it’s only a third RB we’d be needing...I was more thinking 1st choice/competition for Valery. A player whose experienced, even just on a loan deal. But you’re talking like we have two solid pros in that position and like I desperately think we need a backup to them. Also, this is not in any way saying we shouldn’t be letting the players we’ve let go, go. I’ve said before we have a very bloated squad. But come on, RB is not a position we are bloated in. I’m happy for Cedric to go, but imo he needs replacing and upgrading.
I would say that if we continue to play three at the back then wing-backs are critical for getting forward. Therefore someone who can cross would be excellent and I think this is also part of the game Valery needs to develop - he gets in good positions we just now need end product.
The guy we want was just a few weeks ago saying he hopes everyone stays to the end of the season as he wants to win the league with them. Last time he talked he wanted to stay until the summer.I wouldn't want us to buy a random just because our first choice wants to delay a move. Now if he changes his mind fine get him now
Ings deal is an obligation, I believe this is just an option to buy. Kinda like the alderweireld fiasco.
I thought his crossing got better when playing on the left in the last few games, anyway best of luck to him and I will miss the balcony selfies
He’s not really played under Hassenhuttl, he’s not really played well for us for a while, he’s not brilliant at defending or crossing, I see no reason to worry if we don’t replace him this window.
Is as good a deal as we were likely to get. Parting of the ways now is logical for both parties. Cedric had strengths and weaknesses, l appreciate his commitment when he first joined, but its been a gradual downward slide over the past 2 seasons and l have always felt he was a target for forwards looking to peel off CB's for a high ball.
The master plan is brilliant. Free up squad space and wages for quality summer additions.....if we go down, not so much!
Was Toby a fiasco....we had a super player for a while, but he didn't want to stay here. I remember when he joined that nothing concrete was said about what happened in the summer....it all seemed a bit hazy...I think fans just chose to read it as having a first refusal.
