I asked a mate of mine who’s a professional long haul pilot for his opinion “There does seem to be more to it than meets the eye - I would never ever fly over water in a light single engine aircraft especially at night with icing conditions highly probable - seems incredible. Those boys get ferried around in private jets, the cost is peanuts in their world“ There is something very dodgy about all this
I must say it struck me as being odd that a player would risk a single-engined plane in winter over water.
That must have shaken you all, I know how I felt afterwards. I was also lucky with a fire at the Sheraton Heliopolis in Cairo, which killed I think it was 19 people, I had stayed for 3 weeks in the hotel and just left to do some work in Holland and whilst in Holland, I heard on the news of the fire. Bearing in mind at that time I was spending 180 days a year in the hotel I felt very fortunate.
Seems crazy that there’s no trace of it at all. Particularly given the amount of resource utilised in the search. Really very sad and deepest condolences to family and friends of the pilot and player. I can’t imagine anything worse than not having closure on it by recovering the aeroplane and occupants. Terrible news.
Such a tragedy thought are with everyone familys at this sad time puts life in perspective at times like this
This type of plane wouldn't necessarily have a Black Box and so no 'tracer beep' means they could be anywhere .
Seconded. Very sad, tragic incident, and loss of an innocent young life. Sadly, no doubt there will be recriminations and questions asked about the logic of taking a light single engine aircraft on that journey, but for now, thoughts and sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sala and the pilot, and also our "football family" in Cardiff. Tragedy puts football in perspective.
Are you suggesting that a player would do a Lord Lucan and disappear just days after getting a signing-on fee from a £15m move to the Premier League? That's a bit harsh, sir. Even I wouldn't imply that and I'm a ****
