£17.3m for Cedric? That's unbelievable --------------------------------------------------- If that goes through, I need to speak to the person who accomplished the deal. I have a lot of ice I need to shift to some Eskimo's!
Me too, I thought it was just me too --------------------------- Careful, one more 'me-too' and Harvey Weinstein's lawyer would be round your place with a cheque!
Great buisness if true. Good for us, good for Cedric. Has it been mentioned how much we're offering for Joakim?
I saw a figure of 11m Euros mentioned as a release clause in his contract a couple of weeks ago. Which would be very good business indeed.
Only need money now if we are buying someone in January...a good move guaranteed in the summer means we can start thinking and negotiating for a player we want ahead of time. Strange that Ralph feels he is better off without Cedric....you'd have thought we would need him sometime. Perhaps he finds too many players a distraction or the decision is not 100% his.
Cedric has been trusted to cover LB & RB recently, which makes letting him go seem even more of a bizarre decision. Said it earlier & I'll say it again. No loan, just cash.
Agreed, if we loan him out there’s a very good chance that they’ll realise how rubbish he is, and try and wiggle out of paying
I’m just kidding actually, he has been a good player for us overall. I’m actually quite surprised that we are letting him go.
It may be like the Ings situation. Ings had been a good lad who deserved to get the move he wanted because Liverpool knew he wouldn't play many games (if any) for them.
So are you saying Cedric going to play upfront at Inter They must have see a clip from Utd at home game.
From an interview in the Belgian press, speaking to Het Belang van Limburg: For the money Southampton put forward, more than 20 luxury houses could be built in Belgium. “In Denmark you’d also get that done well. It is difficult to grasp, it also remains virtual. I do not think too much about it, the money itself is not the most important thing at this moment of my career. I know that many people will be surprised. In Denmark they already had wide eyes when Genk paid about €1.3m for me.” Asked if the amount surprised him, Maehle said: “Yes and no. This is hard to grasp but I know from myself that I am taking steps forward. What’s more, the team is doing well: we are leading and attracting attention. KRC Genk is a club with a very good name in Europe, many top talents have already left for big clubs. These aspects all have an influence on value in the player market.” Speaking well, something which stands out with young Danish footballers, the fullback spoke about the missed opportunity: “I’m not going to say that I wasn’t interested. This was a nice proposal from a big club from a top competition. But at the same time I have full understanding of Genk’s point of view. They have also been very clear from the beginning: in this winter market all starters remain on board. I can only respect that. Because let me make it clear: I am still very happy here. (Smiles) I do not grieve but fully focus on the rest of the season. We still have so much to gain.” Given he came relatively close to signing for Southampton last month, Het Belang van Limburg asked the player if his future is in the Premier League: “We will see that. If I keep on performing, this opportunity definitely needs to happen again. But whether that will be at the same club or in the same competition, you cannot predict now.”
Sounds like he’d be happy if saints came back for him but doesn’t want to commit - keeping his options open in case something better comes along or in case nothing comes at all
