Janssen has no future at the club. That may be the case, but to say it in public in response to the most basic prodding by a hack, is IMHO unforgivable.
Speaking after training on Wednesday, Mauricio told us: “I think it’s good news that Moussa and Lucas are going to be in contention
It seems quite uncharacteristic, given the lack of any apparent reason for the falling out. I wonder what the issue is?
please log in to view this image Thursday 24th January 8pm Carabao Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg Stamford Bridge Our first game of the week in Fulham was successfully navigated, albeit with the narrowest of margins. Can we repeat the feat a few days later and about ten minutes up the road? A draw would be enough, but as we all know, we don't do draws, do we? Our firepower's been depleted and our only senior striker is misfiring, so we may need to rely on the unexpected. Will a surprise hero emerge from the ranks or will our current injury crisis cost us in a big way? Maurizio Sarri launched a broadside at his own players after their loss to Arsenal on the weekend. The acquisition of Gonzalo Higuain will also send out a message to anyone complacent about keeping their place in the team. Will the Chelsea dressing room respond with a better performance or will they down tools and mope, as they have in the past? The answer to that could be very telling for both sides for the rest of the season. This is a big game for all concerned. Kane, Alli, Son and Wanyama all miss out, but Moura and Sissoko are available again following their recent injuries. Loftus-Cheek is injured for Chelsea and Morata () won't play, as he finalises his move to Atletico. Neither side has any suspensions. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Trippier, Eriksen, Winks, Rose; Lamela, Alli; Llorente. Subs: Gazzaniga, Foyth, Davies, Dier, Skipp, N'Koudou, Sterling. League form: WWLWLW. Chelsea: Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Pedro, Hazard, Willian. Subs: Caballero, Ampadu, Christensen, Emerson, Barkley, Hudson-Odoi, Giroud. League form: LWWDWL. Referee: Martin Atkinson. TV: Sky Sports. We switched to three at the back for Fulham. Would you continue with that or switch to something else? Should we persist with Llorente up front, put someone else in or play without a recognised striker, instead? Is there anything that we need to do to combat Chelsea's system, as we did in the league game?
Is Atkinson really the referee - I just think his appointment for this game is provocative at best he has refereed two FA Cup semi finals between us and on both occasions he has done as much of a job on us as Chelsea did, I am less confident now that I have seen that this idiot will be in charge.
They always do this. Ref's appallingly **** in a Spurs fixture? Give him the exact same match again. Pedro Mendes at Old Trafford? Mark Clattenburg. Nani handball controversy at Old Trafford? Mark Clattenburg. Mike Dean every time? More Mike Dean.
He was also the ref when we beat Chelsea 3-1 in November, Newcastle in August and West Ham in the league in October. He officiated Chelsea's 3-2 win over Arsenal in August and their 2-1 win at Watford on Boxing Day.
Something has clearly happened to cause a professional relationship breakdown. Pochettino spoke about how both he and "The club" know that Janssen "can not be part of the future"... he spoke about him needing a new start elsewhere and did not slag him off. It came across as a similar thing to how he spoke about Townsend before he was sold.
Townsend's days were numbered the moment he shoved Nathan Gardiner. Poch is generally a happy go lucky guy but he seems to value any lack of respect as the ultimate sin and therefore I think what Townsend done killed his chances of ever remaining at the club. With Janssen, there were rumours that the club weren't happy when he rejected the Brighton loan last season. I don't know if the club wanted him to go there to either put him in the shop window or to see if he can cut it in the Prem with a view to returning to the club a better player but I get the feeling that his choice to turn them down and then choose Fener just irked Poch and co. It does make you wonder why Lloris got off seemingly so lightly, I'm happy he did, as despite patchy form at times he's still very important to the club but you'd think getting done for drink driving is a lot (A LOT!) worse than a little shove to a fitness coach or choosing to join a certain club on loan.
