I think that is a tad harsh. Wolfs winkie cost twice as much and was horse sh#t throughout He was pretty good for us in 16-17. Like many players who don't shine, I don't think for much of his time with us he was played to his strengths and he was in a struggling side. Clearly his attitude stinks, but when he was on form, that attitude was probably a big part of a confidence player.

    Bah!

To be fair to RvW, the accusations of not playing to his strengths in a struggling side apply equally to him. And I'd much rather have RvW at Colney than Oliveira. The RvW signing was clever business in itself, but we should have followed it up by building the team around him. Given RvW's record everywhere else, he was/is clearly a quality player with a good attitude. Oliveira on the other hand has spent his entire career as a giant ego with a right foot attached.

I agree with some of this, but I do think that, if RvW was the quality of player that his price tag suggested, he should have been able to adapt his style play to fit that of the teams, which is ultimately decide by the head coach / manager, rather than the team adapting its style to suit RvW. I don't think any team should adjust it's style to accomadate one player, it just doesn't make sense and sends the totally wrong message to the other 10 players on the field unless of course you have sufficeint funds to buy lots of new players, which we don't / didn't. What should have happened is that a decision should have been taken as to what the playing philosophy of the team was going to be and players should have either been developed to play to that philosophy or bought because they were either able to play to that style or there was a belief that they could adapt their game to suit that style. Which might have been what happened, but RvW wasn't able to adjust, which doesn't mean he wasn't a quality player, just not right for us.

Under Webber / DF a decision was taken very early on as to what our playing philosophy is and over time we have either bought players that are effective playing that style or developed the players we had / developed the players we bought to suit our style. This is why our academy is key to producing the type of players that can break into the first team, buy the right young players and develop them to play the way we want, success at U18 / 23 level is irrelevant unless these teams are achieving it playing the same style as the first team. Loans are also key, but they need to be to a team that has a similar playing philosophy to ours. There is still some way to go before Webber and DF complete the transformation of the club, but they have done well and dare I say it they are ahead of schedule in terms of the Championship, in that I think we are currently in a league position at this point of the season a year ahead of what was expected. If we do get promoted we need to be very careful we don't make the mistakes of the past, which means we have to be prepared to get relegated, rather than buying in quality players that are not able or willing to play our style.

What irritates me is people dissing RvW. He scored on his debut and was then regularly played whilst carrying a career threatening injury, (the same one that ended Lineker's career). When he was finally fit he had to deal with a jealous and selfish Snodgrass.

Think about it, he was scoring for fun before he came to us and has since scored regularly including in the Champions League with Basel.

You didn't mention how slow Snodgrass was and so allowed defenders to get back.

Think he would have fitted in better with the squad we've got now, but like you say he was carrying an injury so is a bit unfair to judge him harshly.

Plus his (Snoddy's) right foot was only used to stand on except when he was tripping over a blade of grass and shouting for a penalty <doh>

See ya Oliveira. Hopefully he has a brilliant time at Reading, scores plenty against our closest rivals and puts himself firmly in the shop window for the summer. Shame it didn't work out at Norwich. Went downhill from here really...

To act like a spoilt **** for not starting in the very first competitive match of Farke's career was beyond stupid and disrespectful.

To Jerome and the manager , **** him I'll be happy to get rid of the highest earners at the club along with Naismith .

And despite all the platitudes at the time from DF about 'passionate Portuguese' etc, there was never really any way back. Serves him right but in a closely-knit team like Farke has assembled, there's no room for show ponies with their own agenda. <ok>

Everyone is very keen to slate NO and I don't doubt he was a handful and his attitude is suspect, but there are more often than not at least 2 sides to every situation and maybe just maybe Farke was not adaptable enough to get the best out of an undeniably talented player?
The squad is clearly being trimmed and built for Webber and Farkes preferred type of player and clearly NO is not that. But if you consider the BBC article the other day that said of these German coaches, that they are good for coming in and working with and improving what's there rather than demanding x,y & z straight off the bat.
Of course Webber states a real emphasis on getting players of the right charactor in, I think we can see that throughout the whole squad now. But I still see a degree of failure from the coaching staff to not get the best from NO. Under their tenure he went from a player being touted as £8m or £10m worth and someone we as fans really wanted to keep hold of, to the u23 and then finally a loan to Reading with no doubt an ongoing wage bill and little hope of any transfer fee. Not good!

    Bah!

I see your point but I'd have said it would be nigh on impossible for any coach to get every single one of a 25 man squad (plus reserves, under 23's, youth etc) singing from one solitary hymn sheet.
There'll always be the odd one who won't comply / play ball - or worse still, spits dummy out, especially when they were brought to the club by a different manager with different ideas of the player's worth and importance to the overall squad.
We saw recently it can happen between a 'Special One' ( :emoticon-0112-wonde ) and a £94m French international player, so the odd 'spat' at our level is no great surprise - and nor would I lay too much blame at Farke's door. 24 out of 25 ain't bad <ok>

Who's to say the transfer fee will be hit and how much if any of his wages we're covering? If he turns it on at Reading he could become hot property again. I think his contract goes to May next year so still time to sell. I think this is great business from Norwich considering the circumstances
