We’re paying the price for a poor summer, simple as that really. It was so predictable this would happen - except for seemingly those at the club. Players have been overworked and overused, we’ve got injuries left, right and centre because of it and we’re currently in a window where generally business for all clubs is slim. Fingers crossed Poch can continue to work his magic, we really need him too now more than ever.
They don’t have to be. What are the scouts doing? Lucas Moura for example wasn’t cheap but wasn’t a recording breaking fee, for me he is the sort of level we should be trying to add.
Yes and as is clear we did. But for each success there will be at least one failure and there won't be many opportunities like that. Our record of signing players is exceptionally good. All our competitors have scouts too and there is huge competition. There is no way I can see that we should have a competitive advantage in the long run.
I get that but we don’t sign anyone at all these days even with multiple players will be missong for a important part of the season.
That's because we need to wait for the right opportunities. Personally signing a couple of home trained youngsters would seem the right way to go but signing anyone not trained in England means leaving someone else out of the squad for the rest of the season so they have to be st least better than Nkoudou.
For the PL there is but that's needed for Foyth in the CL. Doesn't make sense to sign someone who can't be selected for important matches.
VDV was still only 28 when he joined Spurs. And IMHO if AVB had accepted that he was a "luxury" player that Spurs could tolerate over an entire season (his wages were hardly burning a hole in the wage bill) in spite of his deteriorating hamstrings, perhaps he would have got us the extra 2 PL pts that season needed to qualify for the CL.
Maja is one of many players we’ve been linked with in this window. Looks like he’s about to sign for Bordeaux for £3.5m. Perhaps we weren’t really interested in him, and have our eye on other similar targets. Or perhaps we feel that a lower league option is not for us this time, and maybe, just maybe, we’re after a bigger name that can improve the squad and add quality from the get go (like Lucas). I’ll be interested to see how the window pans out now, because £3.5m is an absolute steal, and well worth a punt. If we aren’t in for big names that could perhaps be seen as panic buys, but at the same time aren’t looking at lower league options like we did with Dele, then I’d be interested to know what our current transfer criteria is.
He wouldn't have joined us. Chelsea offer him a starting place, more money and a coach that got the best out of him at Napoli.
You've been mishearing them. I only want to play for a Champions League club = I want a ****load of money. I'm sure that one or two simply love that song, though.
Frenkie de Jong confirmed to Barca in the summer, to the tune of €75m with addons on top. Probably narrows down Eriksen’s next potential destination to Real Madrid.
I hear : I want both, and am only too ready to use leaving for the former as the excuse for trying to get the latter.
