The subs bench! I'm can't understand what your not grasping on this.... Either we are both miles off from getting what each other is saying, or we are both useless at getting the point across I'm saying IF fc wasn't fit enough to come on then why put him on the bench as it's a waste of a space on the bench. Why not out a fit youngster on the bench who he could use!
No issue with his fitness... “We had competition for places. Fraizer’s fit and I wanted to play him but I’ve gone with the starting line-up that did ever so well against Sheffield Wednesday“.
Were we? That’s a puzzler for the string of people that nominated Stewart, Evandro and Henriksen for man of the match. Martin did fine on Saturday in my view.
Yes we were backs against the wall in the second half. It was one way traffic. Midfield probably got voted as they contributed in helping secure a well earned point (along with the defence). As we seldom had the ball in attack, changing Martin for Campbell would not have made a jot of difference. I agree Martin had a decent game, I never said he didn’t have a good game.
Missing the point re. Dicko as usual. Nobody said he was 'brilliant' but he is a more than capable striker at this level, as will be proven as soon as he leaves, just like Will Keane. I can accept Keane has less of a track record and is open to criticism but Dicko certaintly isn't, despite your spurious claims that he is 'lazy'
Who was responsible for the second goal, I remember there was a defender back tackling or blocking but there was another attacker who it ran to who was completely free.
No-one can say it wouldn't have made a difference bringing FC on, he made an instant impact last time. Martin is slow and unfit but kept his place because he was part of a winning team, fair enough, he also has good skill on the ball, can hold it up well enough, wins penalties and free kicks so is a useful part of the squad Nige said FC was fit but he left Martin on because he thought he was playing well, he should have been subbed at 70 mins.
Their second was scored by Abraham. He had a shot which was blocked by Reece Burke but unfortunately the rebounded ball fell very nicely for him to slot past Marshall.
Nigel was worried about set pieces. Although it was 5’10 Chester who scored from one. So it sound a abit stupid. Also Martin can’t head a ball anyway.
Concerning the Martin/Campbell situation, Nigel is purely using the old adage don't change, unless necessary a winning team. Martin started in both the Bolton & Wendies games, and we won 6-0 & 3-0 respectively. Therefore he just stuck with the same front 3.. That of cause doesn't change the fact that like others have said I would have also brought Campbell on for the last 30 minutes against Villa.
Campbell is good at giving away free kicks by knocking into the back of people. Perhaps that was the worry.
Thanks, I didn't want to watch it again. The timing of their goals determined how the game played out. It was like the reverse of the Sheffield Wednesday game where we scored just before half time and then scored at the start of the second half. That set the tone as well. A good thing we can take is that we do seem to start games well recently, under Bruce we often needed some players to get a kick up the backside at half time (certainly in the last promotion season). Maybe we have more of a team spirit, and we need it to continue to challenge at the top end.
