Nope, the first left hander to win the Open was Bob Charles in 1963.

He started in Leicester (he's from there) and went to Stoke, Forest but finished at Derby (in terms of the clubs he mainly played for). The 4th club was presumably between Forest and Derby but I've no idea who it was.

    Very good :)

I can narrow down the timescale a touch. He was at Forest in 1980ish and for a few years but wasn't at Derby until the late 80's as that was who he was playing for when Italia 90 was on. So it's whoever he played for in the mid-80s, a decent midtable side. I can't visualise him playing for Leeds, Ipswich, etc and I'm pretty certain it wasn't Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham...

    Maybe Watford?

Ok well Southampton, Portsmouth, Brighton or Bournemouth. The latter few were too terrible in the 80's so it must have been Southampton. Cannot recall that at all.

Presumably from about 84 to 88.

Timescale wise, can't think he would've been at Brighton, Bournemouth etc - Southampton perhaps?

Leicester, Stoke, Forest, Southampton, Derby. Played over 100 games for all of them. I can't think of anyone doing anything similar.
