Dearest not606 Friends Thank you Joe for posting this on our behalf. You are a true gent and a brother from another mother to me. It is truly humbling to know my darling husband has so many good friends on this forum. Your messages, thoughts and wishes have truly kept us energised throughout this last year.. i want to say so much more but am lost for words at present... I am really and truly appreciative and all the messages I have read on this thread are heartfelt and comforting. You are all simply wonderful... My Burly was be proud to have been part of the camaraderie and banter of this forum. I am proud he had you all too. May Burly's Mackem spirit live on... On his behalf, I raise a glass to you all with all our many thanks, deepest thoughts, infinite good wishes and eternal appreciation. Yours truly Mrs Burly Hurley (P.S. I will be rooting for the Mackems to get back into the Championship and then back to the Premiership where they truly belong ... we Gooners are waiting for ya )
Don't really know what to say. But thank you Mrs BH, as you can tell, your husband was looked upon as a smashing fella, i've spoke to him most days for the last 7 years, from the sunderland board and then on here. We shared stories and tales on virtually every subject going, sometimes serious, sometimes just having a laugh. I'm not going to harp on, but i'll finish by saying he was a superb human being, and you are a remarkable woman, it was a match match in heaven. I feel real sadness for your loss, and thank you for posting. Lots of love. Paul (commachio)
To say I was gutted yesterday when I heard about this would be a huge understatement. We are a close knit community on the Sunderland board and have been for many, many years. Burly was our Don, or certainly my father figure. He knew all about my mental health problems and a couple year ago when I was really suffering, he rang me every night and we spoke forever. He maybe saved my life back then. He was no different than he was on here, he was kind and compassionate, he always saw the best in people. Last year when I was collecting for a charity which tries to intervene in a suicide crisis, Burly was straight in and donated a very generous amount. I knew that ‘Mr Anon’ was him, that’s just the way he always was. Humble and Modest. He never wanted praise or any kind of fuss, he deeply believed in just giving and moving on. He was a gentleman with everything that he done. His kids have lost an amazing father, his wife has lost a loving husband and this board has lost a brother. He wanted to come and watch me fight so now I need to get my health back up and defy the doctors and get in that ring for Burly. I love you, mate. Thanks for everything x
bang on the money. He was laughing even through all his illness. It's such a shame that it has ended this way as he seemed to positive that he was getting better. Such a nice guy who didn't get into any of the spats here but took everything in good humour. Have a great time whereever you are now Burley
To one of my bestest ever mates, RIP my brother you were a delight to both me and my family.. I ain't going to waffle, you hated waffle but you put the smile in the real world on so many faces, early December 2017 you decided to drive 200 miles to bring my crippled Lollie flowers and me a bottle of Brandy, because that was you, a man outside of the normal gene pool. Lollie will never ever forget you, neither will I, simply because your life stemmed from natural love and devotion. You always admired me and my commitment as Sandy on the old BBC, Blunham and Burley on here. I'm still doing it bro and will do till my last breath. The girls will always be safe, love you my great friend in this life and the rest to follow.. the spirit is strong, the love is forever.. RIP always xxx
He hated waffle? It’s all he ever did If he wasn’t complaining about being in the dog house he was moaning about having to sell his latest Merc, or sack his latest butler! Only kidding, lovely post though mate. He knew how much he meant to you and the girls and he was proud of that, so should you be, a great friendship you enjoyed.
Been ongoing for years, he knew everytime we spoke sooner or later i'd mention his love of weddings..If not that it would be about his poofy mercs. Think he got immune to it after a while.
He loved King Charlie, was his avatar for years..Will keep it for a month as a sign of respect to wor Paul.
He'd been married 3 times as I am.. 1st wife close as mine is, 2nd wife a money grabber as mine was, 3rd wife true love but in different directions for me and him, same devotion, different path..
He did love Charlie and Kevin Ball too, his main avatar was always the Crocodile as Blunham that had to be deleted. Kudos though, lovely touch Comm
