Might be a good player. Worth a shot if NW likes him.

Great goalscoring record btw.... Be interesting to see if he can replicate that in the Prem lol.

Hi All,

Safee Sali in the current pin-up player in Malaysia. Neil Warnock has always given players a chance, when he was manager at Bury he signed Bhaichung Bhatia the National team Captain of India who played there for a season or so

The Star online (one of Malaysia's newspapers) printed this today:-

National striker Mohd Safee to get QPR try-out
By ERIC SAMUEL

PETALING JAYA: National striker Mohd Safee Mohd Sali will get a try-out with the English Premier League side Queens Park Rangers (QPR).

QPR manager Neil Warnock, during an online press conference exclusively for the Malaysian media Wednesday, indicated that he would try out Safee with the first team.

Safee is currently attached with Indonesian Super League side Pelita Jaya FC. The former Selangor striker played a pivotal role in Malaysia's strong showing to win the Suzuki Cup Asean Football Federation (AFF) champioships last year.

Malaysian football is set to gain from businessman Tan Sri Tony Fernandes' collaboration with English Premier League boys QPR.

Apart from Mohd Safee's try-out, there are plans for a tie-up between the English club and Malaysian FA to allow more opportunities for youngsters for training attachments. There is also the possibility of setting up of a QPR Football Academy in Malaysia.

"Malaysia is an emerging country in football and without a shadow of doubt, we can help them and they can help us ," said Warnock.

"There is no doubt the Malaysian players have got the playing techniques - and in a matter of time, they will come to the fore," said Warnock, who even described Safee Sali as the "David Beckham" of Malaysia.

Oh no not this again <doh>

I browse the official QPR facebook page which I've had to renamed 'the Malaysian invasion' due to loads of links of him being posted by the new Malaysian 'fans' every 5 minutes.

He can’t sign anyway due to Malaysia being the 146th ranked team in the world and to get a work permit to play in England they need to improve their ranking to be inside the top 70. Even Turkmenistan have a better ranking then them!

This is spot on - although i think there is a right of appeal to an independent panel where you have to prove the player is of the highest calibre and likely contribute to the development of the game at the highest level in the UK, which would be quite difficult in the case of Safee Sali.

India are ranked below Malaysia - so regards signing either the next Malaysian or Indian soccer superstar should there be such a thing i wouldn't hold your breath.

give him a chance, goals to games ratio is great although in lower standard football,we hav enothing to lose and he may turn out to be a diamond.

There's no reason not to give him a chance but let's hope that it doesn't lead the club to a points deduction somewhere down the line, know what I mean?

Short term loan for becks and Safi, cash in on the publicity, then get rid- easy!
Hell just kindly offer them the opportunity to train with the squad, even that would probably do the trick!
