Great win. Scoreline flattered Everton. We could have had 5 on another day. JWP was great. Bring on next season!
Well, this seems fun. Who needs strikers, we've got their back four. And we even let Siggy score so that Everton can still think he's good for the next 5 years. Only 2 shots from outside the penalty area today...ok one of them went in but we won't hold that against James.
Best thing about today is that everyone has re-bonded. Thought the atmosphere was top notch. We have our team back!
Totally agree. The bond between players and fans and coaches was there for all to see. Ralph and the coaches were in a huddle ring at the end. Not long ago we were a rabble containing some decent players but with no plan or identity. Now we have some decent players and a very good plan.
Just got back. I think I want Ralph's babies. Lot of man love for him. Never seen a manger engage so much with the fans after the match. Full lap of honour and a bow to both the Northam & Chapel. Don't know if I have mentioned it, but I LOVE RALPH.
You know that he is going to break our collective hearts one day, but it's difficult not to get swept along in this whirlwind romance...
Regarding your PS, I’m sure you’re right. But when it comes to Portsmouth, or indeed Havant and Waterlooville, I just can’t. Sorry
This is what I want from my "matchday experience", exciting football played in a passionate and noisy atmosphere not artificial Americanised gimmicks. Winning matches also helps.
Starting to be something of a pattern. Almost all of our goals, from the Huddersfield match on, have come on quick moves that forced defenders to make panicky decisions. Our possession stats were once again underwhelming, but we had more shots and better chances. This should always have been a counter-attacking team, really; we're not clinical, and we'll never be clinical, but you don't need to be Harry Kane if the defense is going to pieces. We have Hojbjerg back to where he was in his first few games with the club, when he was forever looking to play early throughballs, and now we have players looking to get on the end of them. We're running at people instead of zealously guarding the ball. This is good.
My gut feeling is that Bertrand will walk straight back into this side, but that Lemina will have one hell of a fight on his hands. The improvement Ralph has got out of Romeu and JWP is off the scale. The scoreline hugely flattered Everton. 3-0 would have been fairer, and with better quality in the WB positions (albeit we were unlucky with being forced to play Cedric on the wrong side) we could have done even greater damage. JWP, Romeu and Bednarek all strong candidates for MOTM, but PEH gets it for me.
If we could guarantee Ralph staying here for 5 years with Pierre also staying as his Captain then who knows what we might achieve.
