I think the rules state head, body and feet. Arms and hands "aren't considered". In this case it was feet.
As a staunch opponent of VAR, I'd say that deciding offside is one of the areas it actually does work. Where it can't work is in more subjective areas like assessing a dive. Yes, it can detect contact, but who instigates the contact and whether or not it's sufficient to bring a player down is a matter of opinion. It could give the ref more info to make his decision, but only at the cost of delaying the game too much - which is why I don't like it. On the latter note, Derby's offside "goal" was pretty obvious to me, so why did it take the VAR crew so bloody long to come to a decision?

I sort of agree on the diving. If there is some kind of minimal contact, it’s hard to judge. But those ones where there’s clearly no contact wil be useful to have. Saying that, one of the players in saints derby game (can’t remmeber who) put in a shocking dive just on the half way line where he was clearly expecting opponent to take a swing but he didn’t. Ref didn’t book him and was no var, as it wasn’t a penalty decision etc, but 10 mins later he got a booking. Now if he was booked for the first would have been a red and a game deciding moment so why wasn’t it reviewed and just retro given as a yellow when ball next went out of play.
Andy Robertson signs new long-term Liverpool contract Liverpool defender Andy Robertson committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract at Melwood today. The 24-year-old, who joined the Reds 18 months ago from Hull City, sealed the fresh deal at the training ground to prolong his successful spell at Anfield so far. Robertson has cemented a place at left-back in Jürgen Klopp’s side since signing in 2017, making 56 appearances in all competitions and scoring one goal. Having helped Liverpool reach the Champions League final last season, the No.26 has started all but two Premier League games for the leaders this term. Photo gallery: Robbo commits future to the Reds “As soon as the club came to me, it was a no-brainer for me – I want to stay here, so as soon as they put an offer on the table it was signed as quickly as that,” he told Liverpoolfc.com shortly after putting pen to paper. “It was a pretty easy contract for me and I’m sure for the club as well. We both agreed very quickly, that’s why it’s been done so quickly. “Getting to know the lads and working with all the staff at Melwood has been a pleasure. The best thing about work is when you love coming in every day – and that’s what I do here. I am glad I have extended my stay and hopefully we have a lot of good days ahead.” please log in to view this image Watch: Andy Robertson on new LFC contract Robertson, who was appointed Scotland captain last September, follows the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Joe Gomez in signing new Liverpool contracts in the past year. And the fan favourite reiterated the squad’s focus on translating their outstanding form in 2018-19 into success between now and May, with a Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich coming up next month too. “I hope to achieve success as a team over the course of this new deal,” he added. “This club demands trophies and too long has probably passed without trophies. “So I hope to help bring another couple of trophies to this club and help push in that direction because the fans demand it and the club demands it, so that’s what we aim to give. “We came close, of course we have with the Champions League and things like that, but it’s about taking that next step and hopefully getting a winner’s medal around your neck, whatever competition it is. That is the main aim for us.” Get the new white colourway of the official 2018-19 New Balance training range at liverpoolfc.com/store from 9am GMT on January 18. please log in to view this image https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/334396-andy-robertson-signs-new-liverpool-contract
Silva #confirms that Moshiri is a #fraud : "We don't have the financial conditions to go in the market, is the feedback I have at the moment. I have to find different solutions."
With respect to Silva it's deeply unhealthy to keep buying and throwing players on a pile in the back off the boot room. They also have to respect ffp. Some players must go to free squad space.
They need a striker and have known it all season. They're basically admitting this season is a write off, no chance of European football, wait to summer to plug the massive hole sinking their ship. Moshiri came in with talk of progress and challenging. Silva's comments and the new CEO's prove that all ideas of challenging have been shelved until after the (unfunded) stadium is finished.
