All this talk of not drinking is making me thirsty. My missus asked me about this dry January thing. I've told her that I've worked it out. I'm going to die of something, an probably in the not too distant future. So here's my choice. Alzheimers or booze? You guessed it.

I actually enjoyed the game last night, and it didn't drive me to drink at all. Didn't care that much about the outcome, if I'm honest. Thought the kids did OK. Thought the only way our Norwegian international will get selected again this year will be if Nathan Redmond's mum isn't fit. Thought Nathan looked a class act - but must never take our penalties. Thought a few of our players bottled it when it came to penalties. Notably the aforesaid Norwegian International. Thought Derby deserved it for simply not giving up and for being much better than us at penalties.

Sometimes you just get beaten. Hardly any of that team will be on show come Saturday. And if we lose that then I shall be seeking alcoholic solace!

Read an interesting report about supporting your local pub in January, which is their poorest month. Landlords understandly despise “dry January”. I suppose the cynics will say, yeah after their “print money” December but we all know how many pubs are closing.

Ps. Said last night; Ely, <doh> & will add, no real complaints about the result. Hard to take that we squandered another winning position but I’m sure Ralph is learning about us all the time & im sure he’s the real deal & will sort pretty soon.

Not either/or, you can have both. Heavy alcohol use has been associated with dementia.

Saints were pretty woeful across the board with the exception of Redmond, Jannik, Rom, Stephens, Armstrong, David’s and Slattery..... disappointed in Gunn and speechless about how poor Elyounoussi was as a footballer.

Met Franny Benali after the game (little bit of a man crush).... what a nice guy.... that is all....

The frustrating thing about Ely was that he was bought in to replace Tadic. In my opinion, Tadic may have not reached the levels of inspiration he reached under Koeman, yet he still remained our most creative and imaginative player. I think he is a big miss. There has been a lot of comment about how Redmond has improved this season and whether Ely could be transformed next season. I am not sure whether Ralph rates Ely or whether his selection in the cup games reflects a desire to watch him in order to make a judgement. There were moments yesterday towards the end of the second half where you got glimpses of what might be but for me he is another one of the list of midfield players including Ramirez, Juanmi, Boufal and Classie who have come in and always looked fringe players at best.

Watching it on TV I didn’t think Elyounoussi was that bad in the game overall. First half I will accept felt like he did nothing but second half he seemed to be everywhere and played alright.

He was everywhere, but there was zero end product bar one cross.... Rom was everywhere but was making countless tackles getting back to the days of old.... I genuinely cannot think of one thing Elmo has done since he arrived. Sadly I think a lot of the reason Ralph is persisting is that we’ve probably given him a ridiculous 8 yr deal on £80,000 a week....!!

There is the first season/adapting to the league stuff that should give us some flex with Alien Lucy, but yeah, he does feel a little like a fish out of water right now.

You realise, after that attendance, you can never refer to us as the 'Blue Few' again.

Fair play again to Derby, who beat Reading yesterday 2-1 with goals from the two lads who impressed against us, Wilson & Holmes. I thought the cup distraction may well have hindered them this weekend. Good luck for the rest of the season Lamps, doing things the right way which deserves respect.
