https://www.iwcp.co.uk/news/1735618...side-seen-attacking-newport-fans/?ref=mr&lp=7 Report about appalling behaviour by a Paulsgrove U16 player and visiting fans in a game v Newport U16s. I lived in Paulsgrove when it was a reasonably nice council estate mainly occupied by ex-servicemen, but I realise it has gone downhill since then (unlike a London borough which improved once Helen left). My son used to play for Newport Youth and we were often horrified by the behaviour of mainland teams...no wonder it can be hard to get refs (especially young refs) involved. I hope the authorities come down hard on the player.
Hope Paulsgrove are deducted points or relegated. Probably the only way they’ll get the players and supporters to understand that they’re representing more than a football team but an area. Though I guess these types don’t care about that. As you say, no wonder it’s so hard to get referees ..... I wouldn’t ref one of these and I applaud Tom and any other ref for doing it.
We had an older lady supporting the other team scream at one of the kids on my lads team. He certainly fouled the boy but the ref had blown his whistle for it and the boy was not injured. She carried on so the ref had to go talk to her and then talk to their coach. I was quite surprised about that.
Press conference being called by Leeds. An apology perhaps and people making 2 + 2 = 5. Doubt the EFL are trying to do that....even if they could. My guess is a row with the owners.
Would be gutted for Leeds if he does go. Worked miracles there so far. Surely any relegation threatened side would be mad not to snap him up
There’s a murky story emerging on Twitter that the Leeds employee caught spying on Derby was in possession of a pair of pliers, but that seems to be a story made up by the media and repeated by Frank Lampard, as the police deny releasing any information about the suspect.
I naturally assumed that Leeds fans would be embarrassed....though naturally making excuses for a successful manager....as you would, whereas a poor manager would be thrown to the wolves. However, an admittedly quick perusal of their forum seems to suggest they feel hard done by and think it was nothing. I would be horrified if Saints did something like this...I know no one has died but it isn't sporting. I suppose we have almost certainly been involved in iffy things at some stage in our history, but previous wrongs don't make a right.
