One of my best mates is a Man Utd fan and although he wouldn't particular like to see us win anything, he'd rather we win it than Man City. Not because of their local rivalry, he's against the sugar daddy approach and respects us because we earn our keep.
Ah you have sensible Utd friends Mine are not lmao they started with stuff like that but very recently there has been a most definite shift Oddly since ogs took over and got a few wins Let’s see how They fare if it starts to look a bit more likely
Hopefully the new manager boost will be over by the time we play United. When's the next Manchester Derby? Maybe United can help us out.
Can’t put myself through looking at the rest of the season as it never turns out the way you wanted or expected. Just looking at the weekend, the only thing written in stone is that City will get 3 points against Uddersfield.
Fabinho, Shaqiri and VVD have experience of winning titles as well. And we have players like Alisson Trent Robbo and the front 3 who don’t bottle the big games/atmospheres.
Lads this all sounds like we are trying to convince ourselves here. We don't need to. The pain of losing finals is as good a preparation as anything. Forget experience, the desire not to repeat the losing experience is just as good
I think we are coming to a very important period - I think I am right in saying that if we should slip up, draw or loss on Saturday then on 30th we will very realistically in 2nd place. Even if we win Saturday on 30th we could realistically only be 1 point clear Next few weeks will tell us where we are psychologically I think
unless city are playing 2 games to our 1 then no? We have 4 point gap. are you talking about city playing first the weekend after next?
We are playing before city again, a win is going to put them under pressure . To win the league sometime you need to be lucky. If we are champion, we have to look at the game against Everton at home and some others too.
Tuesday 29th January 2019 Premier League Newcastle United vs Man City Liverpool: Wednesday 30th January 2019 Premier League Liverpool vsLeicester Lead can cut to one point
so? I mean this goes back to debating do you look at it after full set of fixtures or not. Its largely irrelevant as the same root issue remains. LFC need to win both games anyway. Irrespective of what city do LFc need to win. we won't be sitting there saying oh newcastle took 2 points away form city... now we can just draw v Leicester.
To some extent physiologically it is a lot harder playing second if the other team have won. You’re therefor always catching up and never actually gaining ground to put pressure on. Its siniakr to a pen shootout. If team 1 scores their first pen, they generally go on to win the shootout as the other team are always playing catch up
I think this goes back to your confidence. We are the front runner now... we were the chaser earlier. Were the players and manager concerned by being 1 point or 4 points back and catching back up? Probably not Now wr are the front runner and seeking to extend the lead or maintain it. irrespective of which we still need to win the games. We know city are not going to go away so this IMO drives our mindset of must win irrespective. This is the pressure city can apply just by being the team that took 100 points last year. for pens. there is a very specific scenario there that comparing to league really can only be done in last 5 or 6 games. In effect it would be like we have 5 games to go, you go first and then i take one and any miss is serious. if you are in the lead and win and they other loses the time to recover is very little. The pressure now is nothing compared to the pressure when the last 5 games comes.
We should have the confidence of winning our n games. Our home games are crucial and we are not bad away too over the years we have not won more than ten games away in a season.
