Everyone keeps correcting me. I missed motd (mate's 40th) and was going off the way commentators talk about him, mostly! Touché, anyway!
Sorry I wasn't deliberately trying to have a go or anything. I think I was still a bit drunk earlier from celebrating what was a cracking win.
Fair play, he has done a great job. Hoijberg & Lemina will be available for Everton and Romeu has been superb too. I wonder if JWP will get a chance further up the pitch as it’s difficult to make a case for him to be amongst the best two of those four.
I might have to review my pics on the relegation thread I wouldn't put it past us to now finish above Brighton and potentially Bournemouth!
Although lemina is more talented, JWP’s last couple of performances have been at least on par with most of his, if not better. I wonder if RH will go with Romeu, PEH, JWP?
It’s whether we can afford to drop three at the back. As Armstrong would have to be sacrificed for three of them to play in the current formation.
.... and I loved seeing a Saints player get his laces through a penalty for change !in Rickie-esque fashion !
Was anyone else a little annoyed about CP's interview after the game. There was a lot of provocation, and although CP didn't handle it well, he certainly didn't deserve to be attacked like that. The knives really are out, from all angles.
Apparently the pundits on MOTD were pretty brutal about him as well. I can't see him lasting too much longer, not suited to the English game (ie you need to be good with the media)
I guess some may have noted that he's one of our own and all that, but one of JWP's attributes I have always admired is his obvious intelligence. When I coached kids - before football boots were invented before you say anything - I loved finding a bright lad who could play a bit, giving him instructions and watching him do what you'd asked him to do and then using his brain if things weren't quite going to script. I suspect JWP is one such player, and clearly is responding to clear guidance from a good manager. Interesting too, that a lot of people (myself included) were saying "What's the point of changing managers?". If this appointment and that of young Ole (does he still get ID'd in pubs?) at United have proven is that managers make a difference. It could be argued that it's easier to make a difference if you become manager of one of the most expensive teams in the world but the principle still applies.
I'm not going to pretend I'm a fan, I found him to be very frustrating. But really hate the media pack mentality. They don't feel they get enough from him, so he seems to be open game to them. Perhaps he does need to try a different league, where he'd be more appreciated.
The French loved him according to my football fan sources. At the risk of sounding like a brexiteer, maybe we should advise Claude to go 'ome.
