Welcome. I think Mr BMB is a relative youngster and has yet to reach our exalted status. And it is a good time at the moment to enjoy the Tigers performances. It is remarkable how Nigel Atkins and his team of coaches have somehow formed a real team from a group of raw individuals.

A great way to celebrate the occasion CT. Was your son Stephen involved? I mention him because in a big tidy up of my office a week or so I came across a receipt of a bank cheque for 200 pounds dated May /2011 which at your request was sent to him at his address in Westminster London .

You had won a competition held on the Hull CityMad forum to predict how many goals the Tigers would score in season 2010/2011 and won the 150 pound prize. Also I offered a 50 pound bonus if Darlington won their Trophy final played at Wembley which they did.

At that time I was in London for the Darlington match staying with Aus friends in Mayfair very close to Stephen and did consider popping round and giving him the cash personally but opted instead to ask my husband to send a bank cheque from Aus. I was pleased to subsequently learn that your winnings went to charity.

He was 80 last September YT. You must have missed my post to CT where I said he took me out on his birthday in his favourite car and in an accident wrote it off. A birthday to really remember!!

He was not on here when the original Febbos OG list was compiled so does not qualify for octogenarian inclusion.

Yes Mrs BMB my oldest son Stephen came over from England (he now lives near Arundel in Sussex) to join my birthday celebrations. We were both most grateful for your very generous prize in the goal prediction competition, which Steve donated to his Youth charity of choice (Dr. Barnardos Homes I believe) and to his local Youth Club in Sussex, and I trust you received his warm letter of thanks.

I remember you mentioning that Mr BMB had also recently reached the 80 mark, unfortunately crashing his favorite car on the same day. Surely as a past frequent contributor to this forum he should be included with Yardley and myself in the Octogenarian Club. ???

My best wishes to you both !!

As the person on the top of the age totem pole I completely agree with CT so the voting of active members of the Octogenarian Club is unaminous and welcome Mr BMB as a msmber. By the way CT I get really confused when I see responses to your posts because those are my actual initials!

So its unanimous Yardley (CT). Mr BMB is now the third member of the Octogenarian Club. Mrs BMB please inform the worthy gentleman. Perhaps he will consider posting again on this forum. By the way CT my actual initials are RC.

Haven't received a letter but the Aus postal system is pretty slow and subject to delivery errors.

Not a crash with his car but a complete error of judgement which caused him to run over a small boulder on a straight 4 lane highway on a bright afternoon with no other car in sight. We were traveling on cruise control at around 50 mph and he said he saw the boulder in the centre of his lane as a piece of sacking or a piece of animal road kill and made a decision to drive over it. We were onto it before he could take evasive measures. It went under the car striking the chassis before shattering the oil sump. Subsequently the insurance company assessed the damage as too costly to fix, wrote the car off and paid him out.. He had a new car within a couple of weeks which was a similar model and 1 year younger.

The Octogenarian Club came about via the original Febbos OG list which was last updated in April 2013. Joining the club first was 'charles stokell' followed in 2016 by 'johannahatfield'.

My husband fails qualification for the OC on 2 major counts. He has never been a registered member of this forum and he was never on the original Febbos OG list. Rules are rules unfortunately and out of respect for previous OC members he is blackballed!

Sounds like Mr BMB does not qualify for the OC...as you say Mrs BMB "rules are rules". So we are back to two Yardley unless Mrs Hatfield is still with us.

Actually Steve says he sent his "Thankyou letter" to you at the time of your very generous prize award Mrs BMB...some years ago. Hope you received it. If not please let me know and I'll have him thank you again.

As Mrs BMB says, "rules are rules" but I was not aware we had any rules. And in any case in the USA, rules are there to be broken. For example who drives at or below the posted speed limit, or who signals before making a turn or who dips their headlights for oncoming traffic at night (besides me of course)?
