Reasonable response. To me the quality at the top pips the competetiveness of the rest. But let's also not fool ourselves about our league, the 30 million pound players and 17 million pound subs of Manu and Chelsea have dominated the prem for the last 7 years straight.
Don't get me wrong, I know the prem is far from perfect. But for the last 2 years the 3rd placed team has been on points nearer to relegation than winning the title, the quality at the top needs to be more spread out than it is currently.
Fair enough, but I prefer watching matches that are well contested and could go either way. Watching matches where only one side is likely to win are extremely boring imo - even the 8-2 win over Arsenal got a bit much after a while. It was nowhere near as exciting to watch as our games against Bolton and Everton last year when we were really fighting for the victory and could well have been beaten. There are some classic matches in La Liga, and watching El Classico is still a great footballing experience (when neither side starts whining or cheating which is sadly what usually happens at the moment), but for the most part the matches are just whitewashes.
at the end of the day I like watching football full stop. they show all our reserves matches on sky now and I really enjoy it. You get to see what's in the pipeline.
Apart from the promoted sides, the rest of la liga would wipe the floor with the 14 PL teams that you would expect to finish outside the top 6
For me its simple. The Premier League is far superior to La Liga. Even with Barcelona ( the best team in the world ) it doesnt compare.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say Newcastle, Everton, Sunderland, Bolton, Aston Villa and Stoke would beat their counterparts in La Liga more often than not. All of them are strong and would go far in the Europa League. I mean I cant even think of players at some La Liga clubs and a few years ago I knew quite abit about it. Now it just doesnt interest me and again, going out on a limb here but the big two, nobody else really cares either.
You mean like Sevilla, who finished 5th in La Liga and just failed to make the Europa League group stage? Even Brum managed to qualify for the group stage Heck, Bilbao were on the verge of going out until UEFA bumped Trabzonspor into the CL and so gave them a bye...
I used to love watching La Liga games 7-8 years ago with Zidane, Figo and Raul in their prime, the odd title by Deportivo and the games were more competitive. As much as I admire some wonderful football a la Braca, as a neutral I prefer to enjoy a dog fight especially from the underdog.
And who could forget Villarreal's masterful display in Denmark against Djemba Djemba (yes him!) and his buddies at Odense.
