Exactly mate, and if we can can put a little more distance between us and them whilst they play each other, they will have to come snd get s result, which means they will come at us, which suits our style better.

Just shows you what you know. According to SKY we’ve had it easy recently and these tough games will find us out.

Listening to 606, the Derby idiot who wanted to throw the book at Leeds. Jason Mohamed reminded him that Derby don’t play fair. Last year they called off a game because they had 7 players out injured. They used snow as the excuse without informing the EFL

For some reason last night I wanted to get there early...maybe it was stating earlier in the week it was game to be enjoyed. Whatever the reason I found myself in the ground before the teams were announced and that hasn't happened for a long long time.

Anyway grabbed myself a beer and when I checked the team news was delighted to see Hernandez had made it. After further contemplation my feeling was we had a really strong side out. Cooper was back and I've been waiting to see Allioski at left back for some time, the wings looked exciting as Harrison had definitely been showing signs of improvement lately and what was not to like about Jack Clarke's full league debut.

A fantastic start to the game saw us awarded a penalty in the opening minute and whilst I saw the flag go up I'd stupidly and naively thought it was for the foul. A millisecond later as the flag remained raised I already knew the worst. Good start though and we were dominating possession by passing and moving, so much so that even the message from a mate that it was clearly onside didn't bother me.

Then I started thinking which is worse...sending someone to covertly watch the opposition train or being denied a clear penalty and a probable goal. Considered that perhaps the FA and FL would like to revisit all the trophies we've been denied by poor/shocking and possibly corrupt decisions but decided that being a Leeds fan it doesn't really matter and I/we don't give a f**k because when we do have success it just means so much more...so it's actually worth it.

Back to the game and Clarke then skipped past his man with ease, picked out Roofe and we were deservedly one up. It had been the best opening 20 mins of a game for some considerable time and every player seemed totally up for it. Predictably though, we then went into our slow the game down phase and started tippy tapping around in our defensive third. Some murmurs of apprehension were heard, especially from the Revie Stand and whilst I didn't share their concerns it did seem that we were letting Derby at least draw breath and maybe that could come back to hurt us later.

At the start of the second half there was a shift in formation as Ayling tucked in alongside Pontus and Coops to make a central back three. Not sure if it happened before or after the 2nd goal but it was definite shift and meant we were much more solid at the back. Bielsa changed it again shortly after by bringing Shackleton on for Harrison and we now had 2 wing backs and a back five when necessary.

Forshaw was now released a little further forward and his energy right up until the final minutes was exceptional. Remembering he was one of the few who had played at QPR I made him my man of the match. To be honest though, every single player deserved it...Allioski had a stand out game as did Clarke, whilst Roofe was excellent as a lone striker. Hernandez pulled the strings, Klich was perpetual motion and Harrison impressed before his substitution. At the back everyone tackled and blocked like their lives depended on it, which was encouraging to see as there was no way they would even give Derby a sniff of getting back into the game.

So in the end we won a game that many were nervous about. Perhaps it's time to trust these players, whatever challenge is put before them, whoever is not available or whoever we are up against they meet it head on and play with style and panache. We might not win, but our method of play is so reminiscent of the 1970's Dutch teams total football it would be somewhat churlish to measure the enjoyment by results alone.
