Now Matty James has returned that leaves Daniel Amartey as the only injury. So here is what I would go with Schmeichel Ricardo Evans Maguire Chilwell Albrighton Mendy Ndidi Barnes Maddison Vardy Subs- Ward, Simpson, Morgan, Choudhury, Ghezzal, Gray, Iheanacho
Can't leave Choudhury out ... last time we did in a league game we lost to Cardiff at home! Schmeichel Simpson Evans Maguire Chilwell N’didi Choudhury Pereira Maddison Barnes Vardy
Personally would put Maddison our left as you want Barnes to play in his natural position to make an impact on his first game. Pereira attacking right over albrighton works for me as I with both Maddison and Barnes you’re missing someone with a fair whack of pace. Don’t think Barnes will start though if he hasn’t trained
Barnes trained this morning with us Jonny Evans has broke his toe and will miss a few weeks. Shame as he was coming into some form. Him and Maguire looked like they was building a partnership
Shame as he was finally looking like a consistent solid CB. Morgan had been rejuvenated pre-Newport though...
Kasper Ricardo Maguire Morgan/Soyuncu (in the absence of Evans) Chilwell Choudhury Mendy Ndidi Maddison Vardy Barnes Alternatively put Maddison in the midfield 3 for either Ndidi or Mendy given the opposition and Albrighton in the front 3 on the right and Barnes on the left
https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/...news/claude-puel-calls-leicester-city-2420929 Couldn’t have put this any better than Claude himself
I find myself constantly torn over Claude. His aims for the club and the development of younger players are difficult to argue against. We are in a position in the league table that shows we are the best of the rest behind the top 6 and is something we would have been happy to aspire to only 5 years ago. And the fact of the matter is that we have to accept it will not be easy (or even possible?) for us to break into that group on a regular basis at the moment. Like he says, winning the title once and from out of the blue doesn't mean that is the norm we should expect. That is all patently true and makes perfect sense, but on the other hand we then have the annoying and frustrating decisions regarding team selection particularly in the cup competitions. The only conclusion I can reasonably come to is that he believes (or is being told by the board) that league position is paramount, as that is what will lead us into becoming recognised as being a top team and give us a better chance of attracting better quality players - ie it is better to finish seventh in the league than win the league cup/FA cup and finish twelfth in the league. At this moment I am a Claude fan. Ask me tomorrow and the answer might be different. I'm just another short-termist, fickle supporter who wants instant and constant success.
Sounds like his time as manager with us at Southampton: did well with what he had but is not charismatic and sometimes his cup selections were baffling. In summary underrated and appreciated but infuriating at times!
He is. Barnes on the bench. Schmeichel; Chilwell, Morgan (c), Maguire, Ricardo; Mendy, Ndidi, Choudhury; Maddison, Albrighton, Vardy
Southampton deserved that tbh. We are dross. Not that I think another manager could do better with the attitude of the inherited players. And before people start, if we are too skint to make any transfers we will not be paying off Puel...
We needed that, so badly. I think we're even now, after-all you stole that 2-1 from our place. Good luck for the rest of the term.
