A sad day at Southwell on Saturday. First time I can remember a jockey getting two whip bans on the same day.
Again, sorry the write ups aren't the longest, but its New Years Eve, i've already been to the curryhouse and I need to have a look at the Cheltenham card before going tomorrow!! 1:10 - nothing stands out on sire statistics, however one horse in the race really stands out to me and that is Jack The Truth, who has some really good course form (including when well beaten at the track in August). He should be able to sit up with the early pace and from stall three he should be in a perffect position. 2pts at 15/2 BOG (I won't claim the 9/1 that was available!) 1:45 - one of the best sprints for the course, but its very tight and I wouldn't like to call it. To put the mockers on one, i'd go Jashma. 2:20 - Lots of course form but the course and distance record of Custard The Dragon will do for me. Annoyingly the early prices are all gone (but the curry with mango was very good) so 2pt @ 5/1 BOG 2:55 - A case of I can't desert them here. 2pt @ 5/2 BOG on Thechildren'strust with 1pt on Sooqaan at 10/1 BOG 3.30 - Two that stand out for me are Queen Tomyris (Declaration Of War) and Candesta (First Defence) and its whether I want to go with the proven form of Candesta or the unexposed nature of Queen Tomyris. At the prices, I will go 1pt win on both. QT @ 9/1 and Candesta at 15/2 both BOG 9pts staked.
Very frustrating as a couple looked like they were coming to win their races but unfortunately a 9pt loss +15.2pts
So Razin' Hell... He has been dropped four pounds for a really eyecatching run at Wolverhampton last time. That day he didn't have headgear on, and wasn't put in the race at all. His ride was considerate at best. Now he returns to Southwell off 65, a course he has won at seven times, and he was running big races here at the turn of last year off marks in the low 80s!! The market speaks positive too, and I fully expect a bold show here with the headgear back on.
indeed , lewis edmunds and his grandad ( balding ) have been doing well recently, showboating won his last two with some ease ... good luck
That didn't look good at all, hope and I feel it's in vain that the horse has got up. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
I must say after what happened to Razin' Hell I have been rather subdued, however we are back on the sand so here goes. 10.2pts profit going forward to tomorrow 1:20 - interesting race in that you only have one true 'tearaway' in the race with Acclaim The Nation, so whilst the pace is probably going to be reasonable, it shouldn't stop those from the front from winning. The form of Acclaim The Nation fits in with Erissimus Maximus, Ornate and Samovar when they all finished within about a length of each other here on the 21st December. On that form this is going to be very tight, but once again I think Acclaim The Nation will get to the front and provide tough to pass. However my concern is that he is drawn in stall one and may be racing on a flank on his own whilst the other three are drawn higher (along with possible pace from Jacob's Pillow. As such, my view would be to go with those high, and Samovar looks primed for another big run, and at 11/2 BOG I am having 2pt win
1:55 - Looks to be between the top two in the market for me, and I really like Three Weeks, who has already been nibbled at this evening. He has run in two of the courses best races this winter and has shown a real aptitude for the tests of this course. His form with Matterhorn is for me the best form on offer and i've had 4pts on at 9/4 BOG 2:25 - I won't desert Black Salt here, as long as he doesn't get hemmed in against the rail I think he is too progressive for this field. 4pts @ 6/4 BOG
3:00 Interesting race, with Blistering Dancer possibly an annoyance to Jazz Legend early on in the race, and that might make this race a real test of stamina at the trip. This should set it up for either Pearl Acclaim or the enigmatic Tick The Boxes. 2pt Pearl Acclaim @ 4/1 BOG 1pt Tick The Boxes @ 10/1 BOG
13pts staked (I can't back Piazon, or back against him in the last) for tomorrow. Good luck to all who play at Sunny Southwell.
In the 13:20 we see our old friend eternal sun out again by my favourite southwell sire, Mayson. At just 3 there is plenty of reason to think she'll improve again on just her 3rd start on the surface and I think at around 7/1, that's now a fair price. I've backed her ew once more.
I've also done an we double with Crosse Fire who has a good record here, but importantly Scott Dixon appears in better form recently and Crosse Fire is certainly handicapped to strike. I think that's probably the lot for today.
13 pts staked Samovar unseated his rider Three Weeks won at 5/4 SP (non runner in race so had 35p reductions on overnight prices) Black Salt was third Pearl Acclaim won at 11/2 (TTB was unplaced) So 22pts returned overall profit now back to 19.2pts
