He's 23 and had a trial at Sunderland last year. he's made 17 first team appearances in total in the Greek First division, and the French first and second divisions and 79 appearances in various under 23 teams, including playing 148 minutes in Sunderland's under 23 team in September 2018. He's got 12 competitive caps for Armenia, plus additional appearances in friendlies. On stats alone I would say not very inspiring as his career hasn't even really got started and maybe if he was 20 or under, you could see a reason for giving him a go , but guess we will wait and see. In balance of fairness this is what Bielsa said about him when he went on trial to Sunderland. Apparently he was released by Marseille at beginning of season, and has been without a club since, however Sunderland wanted to sign him, but couldn't due to issues with various players that they were in the process of sacking
Lewis Baker signing for Reading today leaves a very sour taste...what type of player departs when his teammates have big games coming up and knowing there are injuries and suspensions to deal with ? Ok agreed, we're better of without him if that's his attitude and admittedly he never did fit in. Just makes you think you're being used by both the parent club and the player themselves, so why bother with loans unless there's a definite option to buy as was the case with Pontus. Izzy Brown...are you Leeds or Chelsea ? Think we all know the answer to that one.
The annoying thing here Jammy is that Bielsa had spiken to him and told him he was unlucky not playing much, was a full part of the group, he would be playing more in the second half of the season and even told him he wanted him at the club next year, which means signing him... obviously didn't fancy a cut in wages or preffered the South. Either way sod him
I thought he was recalled by chelsea as he wasn't getting the game time. They clearly want to offload him and not playing at Leeds is not upping their valuation of him.
The timing stinks though doesn't it...2 days before the game against a promotion rival when we're 10 players short. Oh and I suppose it's just an unfortunate coincidence who the Derby manager used to play for.
Correct in part. Baker had also requested the move, via Chelsea, which was what incensed Bielsa, given the conversation where he was told he'd be playing for not just 6 months, but 18 months. Presumably just smiled & said 'thanks, boss', before stabbing him in the back. We should boot him all the way down the M1.
