Hi there! This is my first post on this forum, I've followed the Liverpool board on here for a while and thought it was about time I actually made an account!

So it seems that alot of "Pundits" have predicted us to come 4th this season. And I tend to agree. Why?

Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs all have quality squads, Between Liverpool and spurs there isnt much between them in terms of squad depth, and their first 11s are Evenly matched. Arsenal also have a very equal first 11 but without alot of competition in each position. But what I think will be a key factor this year is Team Spirit. Every interview with any Liverpool player speaks about the "Buzz" around the club, And I think time in time, that ressiliance that we saw from Liverpool back from 05-09 Where we never knew when we was beaten will return, the same ressiliance that Man United show every game. The mood is that we're moving fowards. We have one of the best academys in England, a fantastic Manager in Kenny Dalgish and not to mention Steve Clarke and a great TEAM with a mixture of experience, Flair, youth and Determination.

Arsenal have a great team and are a threat to any team in the world at there best, but the mood seems to be opposite to Liverpool, There are question marks over the Manager, the physios and the team, it feels as if they've taken a step back from last season. Obviously alot depends on how the signings bed in, they've signed some good players (Mertersacker was a brilliant signing IMO) but are Benayoun and Arteta good replacements for Fabregas and Nasri? Time will tell but at the moment I can't find a good argument to say that they are. But in no way can you write Arsenal off, They have been very consistent in the last decade and have players that are experienced enough to mantain their top 4 position. But I feel if a few more bad results come there way then it might be a downward spiral.

As for Spurs they had a good summer. They made some good signings and kept Modric who will be a vital player this season. When they're playing good they're a real force, but it's when they're playing bad that the question marks come. Do they have the right mentality to win these sort of games? Like United show every season, it's these games that make the diffrence at the end of the season.

So I think come the end of the season, the deciding factor will be team spirit and IMO Liverpool edge that over Arsenal and Spurs.

Sorry if that dragged on, but you get my point ;)

Let me be the first to welcome you. I agree that there is a new found spirit in the club and this stands us in good staed for the season. Kenny has instilled the almost forgotten mantra of 'if you don't want to play for the club, then go'. He is ensuring that the team are playing as a team for themselves, the club and us.

There is a buzz. I went to the Valencia pre-season and the Bolton games, and you can feel it. It's totally different to this time last season. Believe!

Welcome to the board. We will also edge it over Man Utd, Chelsea and City. ;)

Good first post although I disagree Spurs had a good Summer, they kept Modric against his will (and he'll be off in Jan) but nothing really to say to me they had a good Summer. They signed Parker and Adebayor, thats it

    Nice name and welcome

Welcome aboard. The more the merrier!

I tend to agree with most of what you said, but also what DR4 mentioned about Spurs. IMO, they had a dreadful summer with far more players leaving than joining, and this tends to be borne out by their results so far. I know they've played both Manchester teams, but to be currently sat on 0 points with a GD of -7 doesn't bode well.

Let's see how they fare at Wolves on Saturday. Wolves have made a good start so far, in particular Roger Johnson.
They've beaten Fulham at home, and drew at Villa and beat Blackburn.

If Spurs get anything at Molineux I'll be a bit surprised.

I think another factor is that most Spurs fans seem to think that 'Arry will be off in the summer to take over England, and that's not a good way to encourage a good team ethic/spirit.

Not sure about that but I think you'll certainly edge third over Chelsea.

    Arsenal to finish fifth.

Spurs did well to keep Modric but I don't think he'll be the same player he was last season purely because he was so desperate to leave the club. Having a player who doesn't want to be at the club (especially one who is arguably the best player in the team) can be detrimental to morale. However, they have added two very good players in Adebayour and Parker. Overall, I believe we have a better squad than them and I expect us to finsh above them.

Arsenal are a weird team as they can turn it on or off against any team. Losing both Fabregas and Nasri is massive as they are two world class players. Arteta and Yossi aren't nowhere near as good (plus they are 29 and 31 respectively) but they are useful players to have in the squad. If we are to overtake Arsenal, then this is probably our best chance.

Chelsea haven't looked comfortable at all this season but it's still early days and AVB is still working on the team and has brought some good players in. It all depends on when (or if) things click for AVB. They still possess fantastic players and are always a threat. I believe Chelsea are our closest competitors going by squad strength and we can really battle for 2nd-4th places.

Welcome to the forum lad, good points there and I would also say we have an equal team/better spirit than Chelsea too. I have also stated previously on the Spurs board many times that I think we are a superior team to them and they will be lucky to get 7th. <ok>

Deliberately obtuse as per usual. Let me rephrase. Where to you find the most mental psychos; on here or at work, or are they just different variations on a theme. You should know, as it takes one to know one <monster>

    Welcome to the site OP.

Spurs don't like us going on their board and asking where they think they'll finish this season. For some reason they spat their dummies out and deleted a whole thread I created on there about it. If there was an emoticon for ****ers this is where it would go....
