We’re just as surprised RE Sissoko if truth be told, mate. I don’t think there are many Spurs fans who predicted that after two average seasons (and that’s being kind), he’d become a mainstay in the XI in his third and quite possibly be on course to win our player of the year award. He’s been so vital too as we’ve been without Dembele and Wanyama (and currently Dier) for most of the season, carried our centre midfield singlehandledly so far. Skipp is a player most of us have followed for a year or two now. He was touted as the next breakout star back then and he’s living up to it. Very excited about his future, plays well beyond his age. Although please don’t say he reminds you of Winks
Yeah he probably plays better passes and more forward thinking than Winks similar in stature maybe. I'm a big fan of Kyle Walker-Peters he's got a big future to and that's probably why Tottenham didn't mind selling Walker to City. He's been outstanding and I'm sure you guys are shocked he was awful for you guys to until 2 or 3 months back. If there is one thing he can improve final ball or shot that said that's not his main job. It's even more incredible seeing a Spurs title charge with injuries throughout the season to Wanyama Dembele Dier Vertonghen and Sanchez. You guys are having a brilliant season I hope you's win something your fans players and Poch would deserve it. With the net spend he's had over the years the job he is doing is sensational. I think he'll stay as well.
Tbh I’m just one of the few on here that don’t rate Winks. Plays too many backwards or sidewards passes for my liking, we’ve been blessed in recent years with centre mids like Modric and Dembele, now it feels like I’m being made to suffer for that. Yeah Sissoko’s end product has always been ****, thankfully he’s learned that he’s better off just passing the ball to one of Alli or Eriksen and letting them do the technical stuff in the final third. It’s nice being in the title mix, especially with all the injuries and no signings but I don’t think we’ll pip City or Pool. Poch really deserves to lift something soon though, he’s done wonders for us.
He has your the most consistent over the last 4 or 5 years. Maybe falling short in past years will spur your guys on you know what you have to do and what it takes it should stand you in good stead. I don't think you will but I definitely won't write you off. Yeah he does that a lot may be the more games he plays he will start to get more confidence and go forward more he's definitely more a steady eddy than anything else. Glad moussa has finally realised that he's powerful and done a lot of good for Tottenham this season about time to.
With the Chelsea manager getting upset,I think we're due a bit of luck v Chelsea. We may come unstuck in the return....but then,we may not!
You won't your a better side you won 3-1 their last season no reason why you cannot go their and win I don't think you were lucky with the decision he was onside and he got clattered by Kepa sour grapes from Sarri he has nothing to complain about if anything he should looking at why his team were so inept in the final third he should have brought on Giroud much quicker to.
It wasn’t a good performance but we got the win and that’s the most important thing Remember when we outplayed them a few years ago in the FA Cup semi but lost 4-2. Results like that are important, winning ugly is vital if you want to win trophies.
Which number of goals did you fancy? I would have liked a few more goals but I've appraised yesterday's game from the angle that we were under the cosh yet they couldn't score. We were gritty...Poch needs to pace our very thin squad out since he can't buy players. You can't pull the man from both sides..before yesterday's game he said the semi finals come down to who wants them more...not tactics...half time and we are wanting it more.
2-0 would have sufficed for me Spurlock. I've looked at the match from every angle too and we faded in the second half but as you say, stopped them scoring.
Tbh I agree a cushion would have been handy and we certainly faded...will be an edgy affair in the return leg. The crowd will be up for it...but we are decent away from home.
I still think our style of play requires someone a bit more menacing than Trippier. Aurier lacks consistency but the thinking behind signing him was right...I prefer watching him on the front foot more than Trippier.
Morning after the night before ... Sarri was spot on his tactics. I expect to Chelsky to repeat it in the return (we may not be so fortunate next time) . Certainly Citeh and the Poool will have taken note for the next time they play Spurs. Perhaps Man Utd too. I am so desperate now to get Dembele and Wanyama back. Eriksen and Winks neither carried the ball thru the CM melee, nor held the ball up or beasted the opposition MF. Spurs cannot be so lightweight in MF with the big PL/CL clashes pending. Other than that, we played poor and got a win when a repeat of the Wolves game was beckoning (how very non Spursy) .
Apart from Sissoko, I would go with Skipp, because he (in the words of Arry) will definitely "f***ing run around a bit" in MF for close to 90 mins.
I doubt any of the current MF 3 out injured (still here or not) will be starting XI match fit by the time of the 2nd leg. So Pochettino must make a plan for what is likely to be a repeat game (in which case Eriksen + Winks is NOT the solution) .
