Is Marshall out of contract end of this season. With clowns in charge that won't be renewed as he will be on a decent wage. Makes sense getting a cheap, future 2nd/3rd choice keeper for next season in now.
As far as I can tell, Mannion (always think of TTOI when mentioning his name) isn't interested in staying, he wants to go and kick on his career. Burton hasn't impressed enough. We might activate the clause in Mannion's contract if we need to, but no doubt we'll let them go. We've got Foulkes and Andrew coming through, the latter is highly rated by BR. It's more of a long term strategy by the club I reckon, three senior keepers to challenge for the number 1 jersey and a contingency if Marshall ends up leaving come May.
Your post doesn't make sense. Sorry. Marshall will be on a wage far above the rest of the squad. New owners would be looking to reduce it also.
Hmmmm this is strange as I just heard a daft rumour that our no1 is on his way to a club in Scotland. Maybe not so daft...is Marshall a big earner and is he free in the summer anyway?
Already pointed out that this extra thread wasn't needed as we already had a thread that will cover this transfer window ... the one called 'Outgoings'.Already got 2 happened that go under that thread. If amberman8's rumour has legs, that would make it 3. Going well yet again innit! As there isn't now a sale of the club, if Nige doesn't get supported and is shafted once again, just like his predecessors, then I agree 100% with LBIA .... Nige should walk and call the ****s out. He's rebuilt his reputation (if it really needed rebuilding), he'll get a decent job somewhere else.
I seem to remember a promotion season not too long ago where we signed a pointless goalkeeper and a youth forward in January, much to our disgust. Although our squad was much better at the time, we managed to hold out and go up again.
As I said before here the Allams got lucky, the season was wildly inconsistent with the division poor enough for us to easily make the playoffs. The team wasn't strengthened much and we depended on moments of brilliance from some players like Diame who sometimes couldn't be bothered. Brighton were more consistent through the season.
That season would have been an unmitigated disaster if we didn’t go up. We had a squad good enough to accumulate 100 points plus that year. Failing to get into the top two was criminal. I don’t think Brucie’s heart was really in it. The quality of the squad just got us stumbling over the line
