I can go one better... Imagine the sound of Martin Tyler's life draining from the cold, dead husk he calls a body as he has to commentate on Harry Kane scoring a 94th minute winner against Everton in the first game at our New ST/\DIUM to seal the league title while the rest of his colleagues at Anfield cannot be heard over the sounds of massed ritualistic disembowelment after Wolves win thanks to Moutinho diving for a penalty even though he was clearly offside offside with further humiliation ladled on when the penalty hits the post only to ricochet across the line via Jordan Henderson's face, while down in Brighton Chris Hughton does his bit by guiding his team to a result against The Sheikh Mansour Team
Half Time 1-0 to us. Well at least Chelsea didn’t get an away goal. I reckon we can score at their place. Game on.
So another few matches at Wembley just announced. https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2019/january/new-stadium-update/
Last night wasn't too bad at all for atmosphere. However, it was a semi-final against 'them'. The league games confirmed at Wembley; Watford, Leicester and Newcastle won't be. The top tier will be closed and it will be ghastly, Oh well, let's man/woman up and get behind Mauricio Pochettino and the boys. I'm going to all 3, mainly because others won't be but I'm an awkward SOB. There doesn't seem to be confirmation of the attendance against Dortmund. Playing that game in a half empty stadium would be criminal. Let's hope there's a possibility to have this and the following CL games in a full stadium. Time to sort the men/women from the boys/girls. COYS!
Playing Dortmund at Wembley means no CL football (should we progress) at the new stadium for the rest of the season, doesn’t it?
According to a statement "UEFA will remain in close contact with Tottenham Hotspur to assess the possibility of the club hosting UEFA competition matches in their new stadium this season, if the club qualifies for the next round of the UEFA Champions League."
I think so but there was some suggestion that as each knock-out tie was a one-off, that's not written in stone. Addendum: As HBIC got right and faster, with a lot more authority, CL at Tottenham Hotspur ST/\DIUM is still possible this season. The comparison between such a night and a half empty Wembley is the contrast between day and night.
Disagree. Playing at the new ST/\DIUM is money and will raise what is becoming an increasingly painful experience for fans. The sooner we get the sponsorship money in and stop paying for Wembley, the more of it there will be to spend this summer. Even if it's for one game, I'd play there this season.
It worries me that the move might come at a time which disrupts our season, the team's momentum...even though it's our new stadium...it's still a new pitch for the team to adjust to. I could be totally wrong...we have been fantastic away this season so adapting may not be an issue.
