Very special players. Lallana doesn’t get Legend status for me because of how he disrespected us to get his move. Great player and very grateful for all he did and no, we wouldn’t be here without the likes of him, but I’ll leave Legend status to the likes of Davo, Rickie, SKD and by the time he goes, I’m sure Maya. Just how I feel.
Yeah Fonte, Lallana and Morgan are all greats in their own rights, but for me the two Davis's and Rickie are in a little subsection just slightly above. I don't harbour any bitterness or hatred towards our ex's who misbehaved slightly and jilted us, as I can operate under the full perspective of their time with us. Looking back at Jose's winner against Brighton, or Lallana's goal against Hull still fills me with joy. But there's just that little blot on their copybooks that can't be ignored in comparison to someone like Rickie who gets nothing but warm fuzzy feelings.
Yep 100%, I look at Lallana's goals for us and smile, but also can't help muttering "twat beard'. MLT, Sir Rickie, SKD - all legends in my book. Professional and love our club. Davo, under-rated and loyal. Never let us down. Nearly legend status, but not quite. Maya yep.
There are legends and there are personal favourites. For me, Mick Channon will always tick both boxes. Simply unplayable on his day. Le Tiss, of course. And as for those who bought us out of the dark and into the light there will always be a special place. Lallana et al inevitably get a mention, but I will always think fondly of the likes of Dan Harding. Steven Davis will always tick the favourite box. I always loved watching him. One of those you coudn't see on the telly, but live you could see how much work he did off the ball, and the presence he brought with him. If a legend is one of those players that I'll talk about until people avoid me in the pub then he's there. Also interesting that I have not met a fan of any other club who disagrees when I assert how good the guy is.
Jose was no where near as bad in his behaviour as Lallana imo, he also stuck around for a couple of years whilst everyone else ****ed off. Has legend status for me personally.
We also got a happy tweet from Jose when we beat Swansea. That cured my resentment. The only thing Adam has said since leaving is he's from B'mouth. He can F* right off.
I can also forgive Jose, what also adds to his legend status is that he won the Euros with Portugal whilst he was our captain. Like when Rickie scored on his England debut, it was something that as a saints fan, I was able to take pride in.
