City made 8 changes we made 9. So the main difference is we gave Mignolet some game time whereas they played their first choice keeper. Plus of course we played the ~8th best team in the country and they played the ~41st.
Hang on a moment.
Lets be clear.
city didn't just make "8 changes"
city played a front 3 thats played during the year together.
Mahrez and sterling have been rotating all season with sane. that is a "change" but not anywhere nearcomparible with playing jones for example
They played jesus for ageuro.. well guess what thats their regular change and when ageuro was out jesus played.
Whats klopp done with sturridge recently?
and this is important now.
5th December plays 90mins v burnely (pretty ****)
sits on bench for 3 games
plays 21 mins as sub v newcastle
sits on bench for arsenal
plays all of 4 mins v city.
so.... in a month he got 25mins of football.
now origi
he played 66 minutes v burnley and nothing since.
he played a sum total of 72 minutes of first team football all season (scoring 2 goals btw)
so........
there you go... "changes" sounds great.
But one might ask.. maybe as we were on this great run since beating burnley 3-1 and we hammered side after side what was klopp doing to use these two players more and save the legs of firmno and salah and mane?
Did klopp just put on shaqiri more? was he bothered?
