Roo I can assure you that what the Mail says really has no bearing on the truth. They always deal in rumours that suit their agenda. They do not come much worse than the Daily Mail.
I appareicate that, Spurf. Regardless of who’s reported it, that date does seem somewhat realistic though. Just watching Chris Cowlins videos you can see there’s still a lot of exterior work to complete, let alone the interior that we don’t see from these fan videos.
I don't understand why Spurs fans would want to reniforce the agenda of rags like the Mail. That's the effect Roo and I'm sure it's not an outcome you would want. You can speculate about when the stadium will be finished all you like, in the end that serves no useful purpose. They could finish the paneling on the East stand in less than two weeks if they decide to put the man power on it. It's probably not crucial to the access anyway. The legal requirements will be what decides when we play there more than the construction which is all but complete.
We are not the media darlings so they will make **** up, exaggerate or lie about us...**** am I say. WHL was my escape from a ****ty home life as a kid, it gave me great memories throughout my early 20s and and from my 30s to being an old git it has been the icing on the cake (the cake being my girls and Mrs RCL). The new Lane is going to be magnificent...that's all I care about ... so what if it's late...it's ours and it's great! COYS
It was never intended that the exterior be finished before the summer of 2019. It was to be watertight, safe and fit for use and we're told that those requirements were going to be met in September. There was planning permission to temporarily tarmac the accessible paths around the stadium and replace them, complete the veil and South Podium, ticket office, etc. in the summer of 2019. Given the lack of information that leaks from the club and litigation surrounding the wiring issues, if we ever find out the truth, it'll be in years from now. There's every likelihood of the gutter press being right.......eventually. They've guessed every single game since the Liverpool one was cancelled. They've gotta get lucky eventually. However, their track record indicate that these are just blind guesses dressed up as something more...
If it's March 16th at the earliest (i know, Mail, but let's go with it) then we might be better just finishing off the season at Wembley tbh.
Didn’t realise posting an article from the fail would cause such backlash, so I’ll remember not to in the future.
So which paper do you think is going to accidentally post a photo with that in it? My money's on the Standard
I've had this niggling feeling that the club decided that we're better off completing the entire stadium, inside and out before moving in quite some time ago. They just want to keep that decision quiet to prevent the fans and season ticket holder from going ballistic. The pace of the work has clearly dropped off significantly in recent months. If the 16th March date is true, it means we play 5 league games in a building that's 90% complete, which seems like a really soft unveiling... and pretty lame to be fair. With litigation ongoing and still no test events or dates being announced, it seems inevitable to me that the grand opening will be next season now. It won't please a lot of people but it will be 100% complete and looking magnificent come August this year.
The kicker though is that if we're about to win the league (yeah, lol) then it would be nice to open the new stadium doing so.
