Thank you Steve, always a player i liked in the team, a proper man and not a whinging, rolling-about-on-the-ground type of prat that annoy me so much these days. All the best up north.
He will have a good chance of winning something at Rangers...doesn't matter what size league you are in, a league winner's medal is always nice in the trophy cupboard. However, I can see Steve being back in the EPL next season...perhaps with a newly promoted club that could do with a bit of experience.
Sounds like the perfect deal for all parties. Can't imagine Rangers can afford his wages for the last 6 months of his contract so we will be paying some of them but he deserves that after the time he has given us. Always liked him as a player, proper "players player" I would say and seems like a good guy off the pitch as well. Time definitely right for him to move on though. Frees up a squad space which is also important.
Genuinely one of the most down to earth, decent & generous people you could hope to meet. (His wife once told me that the club invoiced him £15,000 at the end of one season for all of the tickets he'd got for people). A rare breed amongst footballers in that he has no ego despite being idolised by many (I know of some in N.I who speak of him in the same breath as George Best!) His time at saints has coincided with some of my very favourite memories as a fan. He wants to keep playing and as Keith Gillespie said at the weekend, he still has more than enough about him to be one of the very best players in the Scottish Premier. For me, he is one of my favourite saints players of recent years and cannot be regarded highly enough.
Really can't add anything to this. Has become a Saints legend for me - always made himself available both on and off the pitch, and led from the front with a quiet yet solid presence. A model professional, a really good player and seemingly a top bloke to cap it all off.
Do you mean winning some more honours at Rangers Fran? He won a few in his first stint. Rangers Scottish Premier League: 2008–09, 2009–10, 2010–11 Scottish Cup: 2007–08, 2008–09 Scottish League Cup: 2007–08, 2009–10, 2010–11 UEFA Cup runner-up: 2007–08
I hope despite being someone who never wanted attention or adoration, on and off the pitch, that he is rightly remembered as a Saints legend. Criminally underrated as a player, and basically a walking cliche in terms of being a 'true pro'. In my book he, Rickie and Super Kelv are the club greats of this rising from the ashes era. Couple others that should be there on the merit of 90% of their time here but then did their best to make it hard to give them unbridled love, like bloody Jose.
I agree, although I would include Fonte in my list, despite his little hissy fit at the end. I'm also tempted to have Lallana and Schniederlin in there.
All part of our good times. To keep angry at them just sullies the memories and the pleasure of watching a few match replays. We had a great team at that time...pleasure to watch.
Sadly they did it on the basis of corruption, and paying players they couldn`t afford. That`s why they went out of existence.
Jose, Adam and Morgan are bona fide Saints Legends along with Nigel, who knows where we would be now without them? Adam and Morgan's transfers helped to pay for Staplewood as well to enhance their legacy.
Special players for us. To not just be part of our team, but outstanding performers in League 1, the Championship AND the Premier league. We were spoilt!
