Sunderland are set to strengthen their playing squad, with the club meeting two players today and hope to get them on board ‘relatively quickly’. Stewart Donald joined us on the Roker Rapport podcast earlier today - which you can listen to in full later today - and revealed that a striker and centre-back are close to signing, as well as saying that he expects the club to buy, not sell, during this transfer window. We seen two players today, both of whom we would hope would sign relatively quickly. Opposite ends of the pitch, centre-back and a striker. Donald also said the striker would come in regardless of Josh Maja’s situation. We also asked Sunderland’s owner whether the club could make Charlie Wyke level signings during this window: We can. We can do whatever Jack [Ross] wants to do, within reason. We have to remember the current wage structure, we don’t want someone coming in unsettling the boat and earning two or three times more than anyone else we signed. But will we back Jack Ross? Yes. We have got ourselves into a position where it would be criminal not to strengthen our squad to try and make sure we have the best squad for the back end of the season and we are committed to doing that. But that is down to Jack and his management team, Tony Coton and Richard [Hill] to pick the players.
"We have got ourselves into a position where it would be criminal not to strengthen our squad to try and make sure we have the best squad for the back end of the season" Couldn't agree more with him there, we're doing really well but we do need reinforcements to make a really strong automatic promotion push. If we could only sign 2 players I'd want a CB and a striker so bang on there too. A creative midfielder with quality would be great too but less important.
Just the news we wanted to hear from the club. After they are signed up and holding up the shirt then we can relax a bit as it's obvious we need help and it's good that the management can see this as a priority and were not waiting until deadline day.
its on google news that he has been in talks with Grant leadbitter, and Grant says he would welcome the return, sounds cushty to me
wow with him and Grant things are looking rosy .Hope we can ge 5mil from the skunks, for Maja and he goes the same way as the ginger pissbiscut

only read the highlights, didnt listen to the pod, but google news tells me we are in talks, and it was them that broke the news about Maja, 80% of the guys on here were saying its bollocks, but hey ho my thread was correct.
He said Josh told him today he wants to stay. Stewart spent one and a half hours with him today, Josh is now going to have a chat with his family and has a few days to think it over.
So he has to convince his family and an agent? The lad needs to grow a set of bollocks. It's his life and his career. He's coming across a right wet fart if he can't make decisions about his own life age 20. I'd been living independently for three years on a lot less than him at that point in my life. and we are still in talks with Grant. pleased we don't have all our eggs in one basket as i think he will drag it out to become a free agent
