All the terrible VAR decisions made at the World Cup too. Next season will be...interesting. I think VAR as a concept is good, but the training of the refs that operate it has a long long way to go.
Am no massive fan of VAR....ok for yes, no decisions....like ball over line or offside*, but for everything else I'm not a fan. There will be a few decisions missed by the ref that can be corrected by another viewpoint, but I think there will be many other 'matter of opinion' decisions that should be left to the ref on the field watching in normal time...slo-mo distorts reality. Challenges that are a bit robust, but not necessarily vicious, can look bad and deliberate at a slower speed. And the decisions can take too long...there was apparently one penalty overturned by VAR over the weekend...as the player ran up to take it! *Offside leading directly to goal, not every time all over the pitch. Pass the popcorn, Fats. And the soapbox.
Oh Wayne (Hennessey)....really? https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/wayne-hennessey-breaks-silence-nazi-13822631
This is very local to me. We're trying to find out who the goalie is because a lot of people in work will surely know him!
Quite a few people will have done a Nazi salute on a night out when bladdered...doesn't make them a Nazi. Context is everything. Not clever and not wise, but mustn't make too much of it unless he was being deliberately offensive....which I suspect he wasn't. The pretend Hitler moustache indicates that it was a joke and not a political statement.
Yes, I do agree with that Fran. It’s stupid, but not worth all the faux-outrage. If you can forgive Prince Harry, you can forgive this.
I hate all this outrage you get on line because someone has been less than 110% PC....do these people never make mistakes themselves, never ever do things in poor taste, never ever make misfiring jokes? A bit of tolerance and understanding goes a long way.
I do challenge anyone over the age of 30 to say they haven’t ever done a piss take Hitler moustache/salute thing. Was the bedrock of a lot of 70s comedy.
Loved that Fawlty Towers episode when they had German guests. Don't mention the war. I did but I think I got away with it.
