Pretty much what I thought and I was sat in line with the offence. As I said earlier - 4 carp referees in a row and I don't suppose it will be any different against the Baggies.
If we appeal it, I bet they would just extend the ban. Even though it never looked a red in the first place.
DF agrees - Daniel Farke felt Grant Hanley’s early red card was harsh on Norwich City in a 1-0 FA Cup third round defeat to Portsmouth at Carrow Road. https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwi...ird-round-defeat-against-portsmouth-1-5841151
Means F**k all again now does it. As usual, it cost us, and no-one cares apart from us. Will happen again against WBA.
Yup. Every game. I thought we could have had a pen. We should have had a few freekicks around the edge of the area. Red was very harsh. They got freekicks for shoulder to shoulder, but it was fine for them to do it. Seems to be the rules for most of our games these days.
Saying that though. I don't think we deserved to win. I thought it was a poor game. Pretty even. We played some really nice football every now and again, and for the bulk of the game I forgot we had 10 men. I didn't really feel we would score. I thought on the break, they might. Especially with Lowe who I thought was fantastic for them. When It came to injury time, I said to my mate "if they score now, I would actually not be unhappy at all" he said "Agreed". They scored about a minute later. Wouldn't say they deserved to beat us. Don't think we earned enough to win. But we really needed to avoid a replay.
By my reckoning, that's 3 games in a row when we've been denied a worthwhile penalty claim and it's beginning to 'wear a bit thin'. I'm not expecting much in the way of favours from the ref when we go to the Hawthorns on Saturday. #couldbeprickly <getscoatemoji>
When McGovern had nothing to do all game, and he spilled that really basic shot right at him, and Zimmerman had to dive him to save him. What is up with our Keepers keep doing that?!
MOTD really surprisingly fair to us. Said the Red screwed us, mentioned the 8 changes, mentioned the fact we were desperate to not have a replay, so pushed everyone forward for the winner and that's how they broke so freely. Unusual for a highlight show to actually talk about reasons and factors that hampered Norwich. I was sure they would just say "League 1 Portsmouth toppled high flying Championship Norwich at Carrow Road" That was very refreshing.
If I was the manager, my main demand would be that the players left nothing on the pitch. In this instance,I think every reasonable effort was made to ensure that we progressed and today, it just wasn't meant to be. So be it, it allows us to concentrate on the league and we move on.
Think the FA cup has lost it's magic now so am not bothered we are out because it will only be won by someone like Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd who have squads of multiple million pound players compared to squads like Norwich. The days when you saw someone like Southampton, West Ham, or any other non - BIG club win the FA cup are gone However to put a smile back on your NCFC faces here a few interesting facts 2010/11 lost 1-0 to Leyton Orient (L1) n 3rd round FA Cup - Promoted to Premier League 2014/15 lost 2-0 to Preston (L1) in 3rd round of FA Cup - Promoted to Premier League 2018/19 lose 1-0 to Portsmouth (L1) in 3rd round of FA Cup - Currently in Auto Promotion place to Premier
Really? Wigan and Portsmouth have both won it in the last decade. I think 5here is still hope, most if the way to the final you will face weakened sides and if you make it you have a punches chance. Not denying it's lost a lot of its magic, but I got one would get pretty excited again if we were to trouble the 4th round let alone semis! Bah!
I would have said something similar about teams winning the PL title, tho Leicester proved that it's not completely sewn up by the top 4. There's always a chance, more so in the Cup too.
