I regret to share what many of us suspected and feared on JA606. Our fellow poster (going back to the old BBC606 site days) and devoted Leeds United fan, Harj, passed away on March 31, 2018. A few of us, including Harj, met up for a few pints in the Black Prince on Boar Lane before the Birmingham or Burton game in September 2017 and Sol and I met up with him in Billy’s Bar after the Ipswich game (where i bumped into WhiteJock from here also). Harj and I went to another location afterwards and had such fun together that I missed my train to London. He was a very friendly man and a dedicated, passionate fan. We have missed him on JA606 over the last few months, and will continue to miss him but at least we got to know him. Feel free to share any interactions you had with Harj over the years. Condolences to his family, I actually met his son, RIP Harj.
Hey Jonny long time no speak. Knew Harj, great guy and great fun. Mad as a box of frogs sad times. How did it happen how did it come to light this late on? RIP mate wherever you are. Hope you bump into Boggers again
What's up Doc, a long time, indeed. I take full responsibility. I met him in September 2017, last time I was in Leeds. When I mentioned I was going to be the hospitality area of the East Stand for the game, he mentioned his wife's cousin worked there. I introduced myself to his cousin. Harj was a regular poster on JA606. We noticed his absence over last summer and we started to try contact him. Jonty64 had his phone number and called but it just rang. I tried to reach his cousin at the club through a contact I have within the club and it took a few weeks before we connected. I got confirmation of what we suspected this morning. Boggers or Gnasher? Am I confused?
Thanks jonny for sharing this terrible news, Harj was a top bloke I have met him and his son on numerous occasions. I even had the pleasure of sitting with him in the kop. On one occasion he met me at the train station, took me to his local to get some decent food and ale. After we were sat drinking with a couple of other BBC606ers and someone mentioned Ken Bates,Harj's hand turned to fists he started to scowl like a mad dog,he certainley did dislike that bloke.A great memory that sticks in my mind. You will be missed fella, R.I.P Harj. M.O.T. If someone could convey my condolences on the ja site I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing that. Yes, he definitely had a passionate opinion, not good, of that crook! I am not sure he could speak or write about him with at least a couple of "fooks" thrown in here and there! I have sent a link to the JA site to his family and will send a link to them for this one also.
Jonny, this is a tribute we did for Boggers. https://www.not606.com/threads/boggers-bar-introduce-yourself.365594/
Harj was a gent. I met him many times, sometimes in the Salters or Whistlestop. When the old BBC 606 stopped I lost touch with him and many of the other 606ers. Also being banned from JA didn't help. He wasn't PC and you could have a laugh without offending him. Sad news.
Hey Pags, good to hear from you, even in these **** circumstances, hope you and family are well. Give my best to J.
Little one is a whirlwind but hes bloody great. Will let J know you said hello. 8 years and still going. How are you doing? We’ve tried for months to contact Harj but emails just bounced back and no answer on his phone from both me and Jonty. I’m really gonna miss him. I used to see him under Kop all time. Cried a lot since I found out.
Cheers Pags nice to hear from you doll, hope you and the 2 kids are well you married your biggest kid yet or is he still bending your head
