"Think there is a recall this month, but only for Sheffield Wednesday to sell him - not to play him." Putting that clause in was good work by SW.
That would be a hammer blow to WBA. Barnes has been so valuable for them this season with 9 goals and six assists. I'd like to be there when Darren Moore hears the news. Honestly, I think it would be better to let Barnes stay at WBA and go through the dog fight of a Championship promotion challenge. Leicester is in no danger of being relegated, and are 10 points from a place in the Euro's. So why bring him back now.
Get him ready for next season by training and maybe playing with the first team? learning systems and patterns to hit the ground running in a way only pre season won't do? Bah!
You make a good point, General, If he's going to play. Otherwise, I think his development would be better served finishing the season at West Brom. Not that I would mind him being recalled, you understand.
Gray, Maddison, Chilwell, Choudhury. They are not afraid to throw in the young English talent and let them prove themselves.
Very good examples, FML. And it may me that Puel has seen enough from him to think Barnes is ready to integrate. As I indicated earlier, it wouldn't break my heart if he was recalled. That's the chance teams take when they bring in loan players. Look at how SW handled the Rhodes loan - apparently he can only be recalled if Wednesday are going to sell him. Very astute on SW's part.
He's a cut above in this league. In his first proper season, at a quality level of football. I think it's a smart move to recall him and look to integrate him and use him at least from the bench as an impact sub.
Jamie Carragher talking and no subtitles. Sort it Sky. Edit: Wrong thread, but I'm 'organising' the remaining Xmas drinks before Epiphany, no further explanation required I hope.

DF on transfers - “I can’t guarantee anything but I am pretty sure it will be quiet now we don’t have big, big injury problems,” he said. “Those lads will be back in a game or two. Maybe Moritz Leitner the start of next month. “There is no need to be there with a lot of business. We also still have Kenny McLean and Grant Hanley on their way back so I expect a pretty quiet January. We totally trust this group of players. A smaller group is easier to work with in terms of the togetherness.” Farke admits there are areas of his squad that are less well-stocked. “We are always awake, particularly when injuries come along. But when we expect Jamal to be back in mid-January then it doesn’t make sense to bring someone else in,” he said. “When you bring someone in the new player needs time to adapt to the group and the club. “We know there are a few positions in our squad, maybe striker or at centre back, where we have a lot of options but it is also true in some other areas we will stay even more awake. “There is no doubt the left full back area is one of those.” #noshitsherlock
Just seen this - Man Utd chief executive Ed Woodward has reportedly been in touch with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino about taking over at Old Trafford in the summer and is ready to fork out £70m on Leicester midfielder James Maddison to lure the Argentine. CaughtOffside boldly claims: “The 22-year-old very much fits the bill as a typical Pochettino signing, and the Tottenham manager is understood to eye him as the perfect player to play a ‘Christian Eriksen’ role in his United team. https://www.theweek.co.uk/premier-l...y-kalidou-koulibaly-james-maddison-pochettino
Celtic sign Burke on loan from WBA, and with Barnes getting recalled. That's 2 exciting young attackers they have lost this window.
If we play a reserve team and lose, and Ipswich beat Accrington Stanley. Do we become the team with the worst FA cup record? Or are Ipswich way behind? Anyone know? Also. If either us, or Sheffield United win today. The Home game against them will be pushed back to later in the season. Which will really help in our really hard run, and maybe give the lads a weekend of rest. If we lose and Sheffield United win. WBA, Birmingham, Sheff Utd, Leeds, Ipswich. Take United out of that, would break that run up nicely....
