We charge £600 for this! As far as I was aware it was free

I was under the impression junior members get drawn at random for the chance to be a mascot. Not charged £600 for it!

Our club is superbly run off the pitch but this one they have got badly wrong

There is a draw to be a mascot, there is a standard mascot package. The player escorts and flag bearers come from local junior teams.

Then there is the £600 VIP option which you can purchase, it does include 4 tickets, 4 3 course meals and drinks, kit and other stuff. Not cheap but hospitality without drinks is £100+ pp.

Some of those on the list don't even include a match ticket.

No it really shouldnt. They shouldnt be selling this at all. Should all be free. What is £600 to a premier league football club?

It doesnt improve our back balance or do anything around the club but thats a week and half wages to alot of people

As I said we get alot right off the pitch but this one im afraid the club is miles off

From a business perspective they're not going to give away a package of tickets, restaurant meals and drinks for nothing. There are free options or basic packages but also a VIP option. It's not the only option so not really.

If you break it down to £125 pp and say £40 ticket, £40 food, £20 drinks, £25 experience. I'm not saying £600 isn't a lot of money but I don't think it's that outrageous for what's included. It's not £600 just for 1 kid to be a mascot.

Just like a match day choice for us, you have options, basic ticket for £35/40 or a full hospitality package for £200+. I don't think they'd give that away for free either.

They dont need to do that at all. Just let the kid walk out with his hero. How many young kids would want to walk out alongside Vardy, Schmeichel

It shouldnt be something people can buy. Just give them a ticket with an adult and let them spend the day with Filbert and meet the player

Doesnt need to become a thing that only the rich can afford or relying on a lottery

I fully understand what you mean but my understanding is that normal mascoting for us is free and this is basically the cost of a large hospitality package, of which you get to be a mascot as part of it?

I understand both sides of the argument but to me I think this is quite a reasonable hospitality package and all clubs need hospitality

Just had a look as I thought it was rather ****ty but it isn't as bad as you think.

Unfortunately we are too popular for people just to ask their kids to be mascots so there has to be a waiting list which local youth team players are automatically added to and free for everyone else on https://www.lcfc.com/king-power-stadium/matchday-experiences

The club also offers a VIP package which is an upgrade to the above - i.e. you need to have been chosen as a mascot already then you can pay £600 for the VIP package which is a good chunk of change but is a better deal then the standard complimentary packages https://www.lcfc.com/news/789086/201819-vip-mascot-experiences-available-for-junior-supporters

Might be worth contacting that email address and getting confirmation and for them to correct that BBC article.

As long as it’s free for local youth players then that’s fine. If some swanky millionaire businessman wants to treat his child and is prepared to stump up then we’d be mad not to accept his money. Like I say, if there is a system in place where your not so affluent supporters can still get in there too then that’s fine. It is a business after all and some rich people will throw their money about.

Conirmation from Stringer on Twitter of the free places. Majority of opportunities are free. If you want food, drinks and other things included you have to pay the cost of that.

For balance (info I had from the story a few yrs ago & is current)

#LCFC offer 1 free mascot place via a draw to a Junior Member + 10 player escorts per game for free.

Then £355 package or £600 package.

This is the #LCFC giving fans hats, food, scarves etc for free #Context
