https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/new...news/final-decision-kcom-stadium-gate-2376303 A month or two back I watched in amazement as on a matchday approaching noon, a small crowd built up on either side of the gate. Coming from town, various youngsters waiting to start work at the KCOM in hospitality or stewarding jobs, with people on stadium side waiting to get through to get into town or go down Princes Ave. As the clock struck 12, some senior steward gave the nod and some young kid in a Hi Viz unlocked the gate and slid it open to allow people to pass. I never thought I'd see such **** in Britain let alone my own city, where common sense usually prevails. It was reminiscent of some oppressive fearful state where the govt keep the people firmly in their place and where officials apply the law to the letter for fear of being disciplined by the bullying State. (For the record, every **** knows it is not terrorist proof in terms of being accessible as you can get access from West Park at various points, and the more agile among us can climb the gate at the Anlaby Road end of it to get into town. It is not a barrier at all- it's just a **** YOU to the public and the council. )
Shame on me, but because it doesn't affect me, I'd forgotten this. It's absolutely appalling isn't it. So terrorists are going to have to walk from Anlaby Road or Walton St now. Just a totally unnecessary show of power for no apparent reason.
Admittedly without my semtex or AK47, I've climbed the gates at the entrance to South car park just by the flyover. Even for an old **** like me it was a piece of piss. The gates in West Park just opp the main entrance to the stadium (where flagpoles are) are also easily climbed over. There are also other points further along the 'fence' near the all weather pitches that are piss easy. I've seen allotments in Hull that are better protected What a ****ing joke.
https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/new...news/final-decision-kcom-stadium-gate-2376303 ...But a new council report recommends against pursuing the matter further. Instead, it says a negotiated agreement between the council and the SMC would be "a sensible and pragmatic solution" to the gate's operation on match days with it remaining closed at other times. The report by the council's major projects director Garry Taylor said it was "almost certain" any application to create a public right of way would be opposed by both the SMC and the police, with little realistic chance of securing approval as a result. He adds: "Neither the council’s Local Plan, nor the statutory Rights of Way Improvement Plan support or endorse the creation of a public right of way in this location.

Lets hope the existing Councillors have a bit of backbone and stand up for their voters' interests. Having just read the Report its rather a pathetic piece of work, rather easy to rip its recommendations to pieces.
These "Counter Terrorism Officers" and Humberside Police should at least be asked to explain why they believe the pathway is a terrorism black spot.
Neither of these 'Counters' look terrifying # pish easy jobbie for someone ... [not sure how a gate is needed either] please log in to view this image
A pound to a pinch of **** that if locking that gate affected a commercial activity like say, St Stephens, it'd have been gone in no time, security or no security issue.
Humberside Police love nothing more than cordoning things off and restricting people's movements. You only have to see how long they close roads for after every accident, no matter how minor.
It is so obviously a load of bollox. You can approach the KC by other means. Do they think terrorists would only think of approaching from one direction and, finding a gate, not climb over it or ho another way? By their logic every football stadium in the country try is at more risk than the KC.
I recall an article a few years back where 'security issues' from MI5 stopped a proposal for Tesco's on Hall Rd. I'll see if I can find the article.
