Aitor Karanka's men sit 4 places and 6 points off a play off position, and must surely be seen as one of the biggest disappointments in the Championship, especially when you consider the reinforcements they bought in over the Summer (Joao Carvalho 13m, as well as having Daryl Murphy and Lewis Grabban up front). After a lacklustre display at home against Hull, Bielsa will be hoping that his team can show the same fightback that they displayed after their 4-1 loss at the Hawthorns in early November. In the last three games, there have been seven shots on target on the Leeds goal. Unbelievably, six of them have gone in! Whilst there have been individual errors from the likes of Phillips and Ayling, Peacock-Farrell must shoulder a lot of the blame! Does Phillips look comfortable in central defence? Is it having a negative effect on his game playing him in central defence? Would you like to see Halme bought back to central defence, and Phillips to since in front and marshall the defence? Equally, having dominated with 75% possession, and 22 shots, we should have got something out of the game! Do the players need rotating? Are they tired after the busy Christmas schedule of 6 games in December? Does Bielsa need a bigger squad?
I didn't think we looked tired yesterday, we kept going at them right to the end, I think this is a myth, an excuse. Hull's game plan worked well for them, 2 defensive errors gifting them goals, some poor finishing by us and the little bit of luck evading us. Personally, I think our problems defending recently are down to weakening Phillips' game by moving him in a back line where he doesn't belong, Ayling coming back in woeful form and Douglas not being much better.
Evening Gessa, tired was probably the wrong word. Were Leeds sharp on Saturday in your opinion. Were they getting to the second balls before Hull.
Spot on! That & Forshaw leaving his post. He's supposed to drop back when the FBs go forward. He doesn't.
Halme to replace Phillips, who inturn replaces Forshaw.Clarke to start ahead of Harrison. Shackleton for Ayling
Millwall beat the Florists at the weekend I particularly like the assessment of the Florists strengths
Bielsa needs to bounce back with a win At Forest. If he plays the same team that started against Hull we may well get beat again. We are missing Philips playing infront of defence, Forshaw is not the same player. Ayling is not as special as you all thought and Shackleton held the position well in his absence. Douglas!!! Why did Wolves let him go? well how many MoM has he had, how many free kicks has he put away or made the keeper pull off a good save....... none. Clarke to start tomorrow for me, if he fades late on then sub him for maybe a defensive midfielder if we are winning!! well it won’t be a striker!! we don’t have any?? so onto Mr. Bamford wtf are we pussyfooting about with this person, bet you he is fit after Forest game, he has had the festive period off and then will be fit and available, let’s see. The transfer window is of paramount importance to the club and the promotion push, we have to buy/loan well and finish the job on hand, it’s the best opportunity we have had in 14 yrs let’s not fck it up Mr Radz, Bielsa and Orta as there are a lot of loyal expectant fans relying on you to deliver. HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL AND EVERYONE
Have mentioned this in the past about Douglas He played for Wolves mainly as wing back but here he has a winger in front if him which screws up his attacking game. A lot of his donkey work defending goes unnoticed and has been MOM a few times in the eyes of some. His deadball kicks are good and have created goals from corners but not getting a look in with free kicks. He doesnt blend well with Alioski and Alioski has been better on the right?
I've always agreed with this. He's particularly bad at marking for set pieces & this has been responsible for a lot of goals. It's happened too often for it to be coincidence or bad luck.
Seems that Douglas is now the new whipping boy on here... What a shameless bunch some of you are...jumping on the guys back instead of supporting him as should happen. For the record I think he's doing fine, bringing stability to the left side and giving a consistent 7/10 performances week after week. That's a massive improvement on recent years where we've had a player running down his contact or Berardi manfully trying to do a job on his weaker side. Douglas has also had to cope with an ever changing back four and adjusting to being at a new club. But hey ho have a few games which the cognoscenti on here view as below par and you're f**king useless. He's a very good solid professional with a quality left foot and may I remind everyone that we are lucky to have signed him.
When I think of the fans who were moaning about losing Taylor and the players we’ve had at Lb including Parker, White, LDB Douglas is by far the best we’ve had with Pearce coming along nicely.
