I thought London (Haringey) was the centre of the universe Barch, you know all go and that. It is indeed a heck of a city but I just feel that it detracts from the struggles of us a bit further from the centre of universe so to speak.

Or where the Argos was on Lowgate, although not sure how many units there are , as it seems Brewdog are almost certainly in there.

Mentioned that on the last page - only heard Brew Dog and a rumour of Jamie's Italian so far.

A mix of other forums, contacts, non-click bait areas of the HDM site (they're good at burying stories people want to read) and then sometimes rumours come about because developers often stick fake (but obvious) logos of the companies they're in talks with on the renders.

All Bar One, Patisserie Valerie and Pret were also looking for staff in Hull last year and none of them have materialised.

Doesn't mean they're not happening - sometimes circumstances change and put a hold on things. The Pret was being fitted out a couple of months back - Queen Victoria Sq.

I'll believe it when I see it, just like anything in this city. The food court on the bottom deck of princes quay has fizzled out into nothing despite all the grand plans they were bragging about with TGI Fridays, Turtle Bay etc.

They also talked of a thriving 'quayside kitchens' before and after gigs at the Bonus arena which has come to nothing.

Oh and of course there's the BHS monstrosity that was supposed to be getting demolished in June!

The Pret one especially seems to be taking ages. No work has been done to the outside of the building and some homeless people are still sleeping in the doorway.

In October, the HCC granted permission for outdoor seating and railings to Pret. Nothing’s happened since.

It’s a great spot for this type of store. HCC turned down Greggs for the store. With the outdoor seating at Subway and Costa in this street, this is the sort of thing they need to go for down there with more places having outdoor seating.

Piper has closed for refurbishment. Sad to see it in decline. Used to be the place to go for the indie night. Real shame!

    Is it in decline?

Always seems packed with students, etc.
