Personally I would work with the squad we have, keeping any available funds available , then concentrate all our efforts be to bring in players early in the summer to enable them to have a full pre season with the rest of the squad.

At the beginning of the season we were all predicting a mid table finish , which failing disasters we look set to achieve.

Whilst we would all like to be able to buy top players in to the club, we have to work within FFP limits and be realistic, unlike some posters on here, the last thing we want is to spend more than we have and put our club in jeopardy.

Funny how you didn’t mention anything about FFP. Wondering if you actually understand it? Thinking about it I think you struggle to understand anything, as others have pointed out you’re really the village idiot of the forum.
Plus believe it or not it’s HIS money not City’s not yours or mine but HIS.

He did not need to take the Mantle, the club was here long before Mr L ,you and me were around and will be long after we are all gone.

FFP fully understand it, but there are ways and means if you know what your doing.

Go on then explain how to get round FFP, seeing as you want to spend 10-15 million on Maupay.

I have no idea what gave you the impression that I want Lansdown to go out and blow away big money ROD because if anything my biggest complaint is the ridiculous sums being spent on questionable players by other teams particularly in the top 2 flights. The only thing I want is for City to do better than we appear capable of achieving given the quite sensible constraints. Our infrastructure dictates that we generate specific revenues based on our stadium capacity and so spending beyond those means would be stupid and could end up costing us dearly, but then what the hell do I know?

Agree ROD , not just the transfer fee , but the wages to go with it and the discontent it would cause the rest of the squad with one player on sky high wages .

He's Googling as we speak! <laugh> He's struggling to understand that it's taken years to become an established and competitive club in the championship.. It may just take a little more time before we have a team worthy of progressing further!

there are ways around it, but if you take a little bite now then when you need a big bite its a little bite short ...... the other aspect is that Ashton gate is not just a football club! In my other hobby [one of a few] we used to have a weekend event at Longleat,, it cost an awful lot to put on but gave a very good profit that over the years built up a very healthy bank balance. Same hobby different club we had an event at TMeads, again made a load dosh and provided for a healthy bank balance ........ now, ASHTON GATE CAN DO SIMILAR ... one or 2 "pop/music" events will supply a nice little earner! whilst not paying all the bills will take care of some of them ... like maybe the tealadies salary and ground staff etc etc .. other events will all add to the pot ... conferences etc etc .... Leeds Birmingham and Vila are just 3 of many that have conference facilities [ been there many times ].. so patience RR, the 5 pillars might take 5 years but in the end maybe worth it?
of course the final clue ............. EQUITY ..................

The events you were part of, was it computer parts etc by any chance? Used to go to the Longleat events (late 90s) but didn't like the temple meads one so much.....

It was taken over by so much "computer parts" that the radio side died a death so both rally's terminated whilst we were ahead!
it was also looking back the beginning of computer fairs in Bristol the following year someone organised the first one in Bristol then other peeps saw the openings and "moved" in.... !

LJ has talked about 'trading' players in January.

We have a few squad players who really aren't gonna move us forward in this league. Clear a few out so we can replace with one quality central midfielder.

Taylor, Hunt, Weimann, Wright, Baker, Watkins would we really miss any of them and it would free up a fair bit in wages. Unfortunately three of those signed in the last window so we'd probably sign another dud knowing us.

It certainly was, in a way it was shame computers came along!!!!!!! whilst they supplied a lot of income they also smothered the events to such a degree that the main players in HAM RADIO were just side shows, and believe it or not for the last 2 or 3 years we / organisers had to have "security guards" the likes of the event helpers posted, because most Ham radio stalls lost money due to thefts ... we did catch one thief who put up a fight to get away .... wasn't me but someone of the 3 / 4 of us squeezed his gentle parts so hard he had to go hospital .... got a suspended sentence and tried to sue! police were not interested! Caught/stopped 4 thieves in 3 years prevented a few from walking off .... with the product at the stall, made an issue on our hand helds to "watch for the person with the ? hair wearing the ?? etc whilst they could hear us .....
